Blimpie is the last, good sub shop. And the Oakland Blimpie is the cream of the crop. The people who work there are among the kindest that I’ve met. This Blimpie is a major perennial supporter of the school, athletic programs and the community.
The restaurant is always clean. The bathrooms are immaculate. The staff is always quick but still friendly and sociable. The bread is fresh, the vegetables crisp, and the soups and deserts are always good.
I’ll never be able to visit Oakland without making sure to get a Blimpie.

This is pretty much my go-to in my home town. It’s a sandwich place but they have the BEST taco pizza in Oakland. I also enjoy their soup when it’s cold outside. I will say, they are a bit pricy for what it is but I love this place. In a town with only two restaurants open year round, it is imperative to be good and Blimipie always makes that happen.
I only gave it 4 stars because it really is just a sandwich place and nothing that I’m going to travel miles to visit but for my 5 minute drive to not cook, this is where I go.
