The Little Italian Barrel is a small Italian restaurant located right across the French market in the heart of the French Quarter. There wasn’t very many people at the restaurant when we visited so the atmosphere was quiet and chill. I started off the evening by trying their Sauvignon Blanc and it was really good with notes of pear that I appreciated. For appetizers we got the truffle fries which have a thin cut but they have bold truffle flavors and I really like it. As for my entree I ordered the ravioli and was impressed because it was the perfect combination cheese and basil (maybe spinach idk). The best part of this restaurant was not the food though it was our wonderful bartender/ waitress Jaume (my virgo sista!) she made us feel super welcomed, was attentive and had such a great energy. To the owner of this restaurant I hope you truly value her as an employee because she is so intentional about making sure your dining experience is amazing. ♥️

We found The Little Italian Barrel Paninoteca to be a really nice little restaurant. The atmosphere is fun and very well done. A very informal place but really pleasant decor. The service was very good, both friendly and attentive. The sandwich we had was delicious and very filling. A really nice spot with a great view of the French Market.

We were walking around in the French Quarter and stumbled upon this spot. There was a slight delay with being greeted initially. However, we were eventually seated. After a good moment, a server finally came over. We ordered pasta. The shrimp pasta needed a bit more seasoning. The chicken pasta was okay. It seemed like a nice restaurant, perhaps lunch time wasn’t the best time to visit. Food looked good but lacked taste.

I want to give this place 10 stars on everything. We came on a Tuesday afternoon and ordered multiple appetizers, meals, and desserts. Our favorites were the truffle fries and artichoke beignets – no pictures because we devoured them in 10 seconds – to die for! So amazing! We sampled everyone’s sandwiches and pastas, perfection! The desserts were the cherry on top of our experience, the lemon truffle was our favorite. Service was wonderful, we were greeted and served by the owner. Loved learning and hearing about all of the dishes on the menu. Absolutely best place we’ve tried while in New Orleans and 100% will be back on our next trip.

We were on our way to Frenchman Street for jazz and popped into this place for a drink. Really nice place with a great friendly staff. The place is cute and a nice place to stop in.

This place is really cute, great atmosphere and service, and way more bang for your buck than the ritsy Italian Barrel. You definitely get a full meal out of whatever you order and everything was well priced. 10/10 hope more people find it!

Not sure they’re open anymore. Website and Google Maps makes it look active. Walked up on Thursday, 12/4 at 6pm for dinner and the place is boarded with boxes on the table and lights were off. Sucks because the pictures make it look amazing and really wanted to try the foccacia. Figured I’d leave a review to give future researchers a heads up.

If you like the Italian Barrel, do yourself a favor and stop in around the corner to the “Little Barrel”. It’s their smaller, casual place specializing in small bites, pizza, specialty sandwiches and pasta.
We placed an order for our Mardi Gras party, and the owner Sam was the best!

Here’s what 25 pizzas, 9 sandwiches and 4 dozen hot tamales look like – To Go!
The pizzas were delicious Roman style with fresh shaved meats. We ordered:
Prosciutto and marscapone
Speck & Brie
Pepperoni and Italian Sausage
Cheese and fresh arugula

The sandwiches are made with their homemade focaccia bread! We had The Verona, Speck and Brie and Bresaola and arugula. Everything was well packaged delicious!

We came to New Orleans today celebrate my daughter’s graduations from law school and the other with a chemistry degree. We wanted Italian and decided this might be a good place- smaller, not overly formal, but delicious food. We all ordered different dishes so we could
Share with one another. Everything was fresh,
Flavorful, and delicious. We had an attentive and personable waitress, and also the owner/ chef visit our table several times. It was quiet, personable, and the food exceptional. We loved every minute of it.

Just out sightseeing and looking for a place to grab a little lunch. Seen the little place across from the market just after lunch hour and after 4 days touring the city, this is the best place I have eaten so far. Bubby (bar tender) was so friendly and I asked what would he eat, The (half)Chef Samantha sandwich will keep me coming back for rest of vacation.
