We visited this bar in downtown Telluride and the atmosphere alone makes it worth the visit. The minute you walk in, you feel like you stepped into another era, almost a western cowboy movie set. It is tiny, intimate, and full of character. Super cool spot.

The drinks were phenomenal and the service was friendly and attentive. One of the nights we were there, they even had a live band, which added to the vibe. We liked it so much that we went back two nights in a row just for drinks.

The only downside is that it gets really crowded. The bar is small, and it seems like people grab seats early and stay for hours. On one of the nights, there were only two bartenders working even though the place was packed. They were in great spirits and worked hard, but we ended up waiting about 20 minutes for a drink. The other night was a little better, but this is probably the one area where management could step it up by staffing appropriately on busy nights.

That said, it is still a great place to hang out. Amazing atmosphere, strong drinks, and good vibes all around. Definitely worth stopping by when you are in Telluride.

While the interior is beautiful and moody, I can’t say we had a positive experience at the New Sheridan bar. We were able to grab a seat at the bar with no wait, but got a pretty intense review of our IDs before any service. I agree it is fair to review IDs however is needed, but it’s the only place in Colorado during our week and half trip where there was hesitation so not sure what the issue was. The drinks themselves we received were weak and overly sweet and we expected more impressive liquor/whiskey options to match the historic bar setup/vibes.

Beautiful, historic building. The bar is so well built, amazing wood work and tin ceiling tiles. $5 Jack Daniel’s in Telluride, that was not expected! Bar tender was very friendly and great service. It got busy as it started to rain and it was a very fun crowd with great energy.

Blonde haired lady the first night was FANTASTIC but the second night the man not so great . Treated my father in law pretty rude, thank goodness some people from Austin, Texas took up for him to the bartender (he is 79) but overall pretty cool experience … again I hate that I don’t know her name but she was great ! I think she has worked there for a while .. she knew the locals so I hope she knows she is appreciated.

This is one of the oldest Salon’s still in existence out west. Located within the New Sheridan hotel, right on the main strip of Telluride, the inside of this establishment is beautiful. It has a very historic feel inside, the bar is beautiful, and there is even a game room in the back. This bar is a highly recommended visit while in Telluride.

It is vintage and it’s old wood inside. You can meet loads of great people, other tourists and travelers. The happy hour is great. The bartender is pretty smooth. There is pool in the back

The reason I am giving 3 start for food is, when we reach there around 10 the food was unavailable but in the google map it mentioned the food is available till the closing. Other than that the service and the atmosphere is excellent and very friendly neighborhood bar

While the ambiance of the bar is undeniably striking—thoughtfully designed and full of character—the bar program falls flat. The bartender’s execution of a simple Old Fashioned revealed a concerning lack of foundational cocktail knowledge, resulting in a drink that was both unbalanced and uninspired. A venue with such promise deserves a bar staff capable of matching its aesthetic with equal craft.

I was sitting at the bar, very busy Friday night. There was a group standing around behind me waiting patiently to order drinks, the lady waiting to order jokingly said “do I need to know the bartender to get a drink” and I responded “you need to wave your arms”… obviously I was making the comment in jest and the bartender snapped at me in front of everyone around me at the bar, and then snapped at the lady telling her “do not wave your arms” Bartender in his 40s or maybe early 50s, some tattoos on his arms. Other than him being a rude terrible bartender not able to work under the pressure of a busy bar and snapping at a comment that was obviously not serious this place was good.
