They caught live king crabs. In fact, there were many crabs in the aquarium, and they gave us a choice, but they didn’t catch the king crabs themselves. Ha..
Anyway, they brought king crab, showed it to us, cooked it right away, and brought it to us.
Not all the legs were cooked evenly, but they were fresh, so I enjoyed them. Because the meal is really huge, I recommend that at least eight people go to together.
The price of king crab is calculated at the market price and they didn’t charge corkage for two bottle of wines.
I recommend it because it’s a place worth visiting at least once.
The ribs was tender and good but a bit sweet to my taste. The pig knuckles is 爽脆白云猪手. Which is supposed to be marinated with rice vinegar. However, it didn’t taste sour and sweet at all. So the Chinese name is misleading. Also ordered braised Chilean sea bass, didn’t taste fresh. It was with red coloring, which same as the sweet & sour pork ribs w/fresh pineapple. I don’t like food color and sweetness personally.
Tasty examples are: BBQ Pork Rice Noodle Rolls, Black Gold Lava Buns, Black Sesame Mochi with Grated Peanuts, and Black Truffle and Scallop Dumplings and don’t forget the 7 Spice Crispy Tofu Delight / Deligh.
And they’re pretty solid on the typical dim sum fare, including one of my favourites (Canadian spelling of favourite) is Deep Fried Taro and Pork Puff.
This place is always full of people for a reason.
We had a smaller party this year with only 15 people but this meant we could be at one table which is more ideal. I’d say if y’all want to sit at one table, probably max out your party at 16 peopl in your reso. The venue can accommodate more people but this may result in two tables.
All and all, always a great dining experience. And my family is very, very, very particular about good Chinese food. So the fact that this place is where we go for large family gatherings … says quite a lot about the quality of the food here. Definitely recommend!
food was okay. personally i think it needs some flavor (and salt).
SERVICE
we ordered a set (like a combo) and a plate of walnut shrimp but they did not serve us our walnut shrimp so we ended up canceling it. they also did not serve us our dessert (which was included in the set) until we reminded them to.
ENVIRONMENT
VERY COLD. it is FREEZING inside. huge breeze blowing overhead. bring a jacket if youre easily cold.
