We went to Gastrobar Hartig last night and had such a lovely evening.
The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the service was genuinely friendly and attentive. You feel taken care of without it being too much.
We ordered the smoked duck breast, beef tataki, burrata, tournedos tips, and pork belly and everything was absolutely delicious. So much flavor and beautifully prepared.
The lemon mascarpone dessert was the perfect ending light, creamy, and just amazing.
Definitely a place we’ll come back to.

Fantastic food prepared to perfection! It’s all supposed supposed to be shared family style do order several things. The Spinach in filo dough was very good, as were the beef medallions and so were the scallops and the sea bass. They stop serving food at 9:30 so be sure to get before then.

We came from Belgium and had booked this restaurant for a very special occasion: our 3-year anniversary. Everything was planned in advance. We were staying at nhow Rotterdam and walked nearly 30 minutes in the cold to reach the restaurant.
Our reservation was for 6:00 PM. We were slightly late, so we walked faster to arrive as soon as possible.
The restaurant never called us. Not once.
We only received an automatic email at 6:14 PM, exactly at the moment we were entering the restaurant, saying that we needed to arrive quickly or our table would be cancelled.
We arrived at exactly 6:15 PM, and were told—very coldly—that our table had already been given away.
No real discussion.
No sincere apology.
No genuine attempt to find another table.
Zero respect.
Zero understanding.
Zero effort.
The result:
our anniversary evening completely ruined,
a night that was supposed to be special destroyed,
we went back to the hotel to eat a sad plate of feta,
even though this dinner meant a lot to us (I was supposed to give her a ring that evening).
This restaurant showed a total lack of respect, was rigid and unempathetic, and clearly does not care about its customers. When you welcome guests who travel from another country for an important occasion, the bare minimum is to call, to explain, or to try to find a human solution.
Instead, we were simply sent away as if we didn’t matter.
For us, Gastrobar Rotterdam was a huge disappointment.
The food might be good, but customer respect is completely dead here — and without respect, nothing else matters.

Conclusion: it’s okay but not worth the price.
Taste: average taste and good presentation. However, not specially good. Ordered different dishes and none of them really got us hooked.
Restaurant: comfortable and colourful interior design.
Service: personnel is friendly and attentive

We ate in this restaurant last night. We sat outside, the restaurant itself is very beautiful and had a very relaxed atmosphere. We ate some very delicious food. The dishes were so attractive. The staff are amazing very friendly and attentive. We would absolutely be back here when we return to Rotterdam. Well worth the visit.

I waited nearly 40 mins for 6 uncooked oysters, and when I asked for 6 more, I was told all the oysters are reserved. Guess this is newly popular to “reserve oyster” since none of my dutch friends know this , or I guess it’s because it takes really long time to buy asian oysters and prepare for asian customers. For sure, 100% recommend to all, especially for asians, but please make sure to make a reservation 🙂
