I opted for an Italian Beef. Big mistake, as it was big on bread, and small on meat for $17, and the meat was not enjoyable. They were also out of hot peppers. The kettle chips were pretty good and the service was fine. Next time I’d try the pizza as that looked better, in hindsight!

Like any other miserable day at Midway Airport, I was looking for something to eat. I stumbled upon this pizza and thought what the heck. Is this some sort of joke? I was wanting to split this pizza with my brother and we had limited time. I sure hope the guys in the back get a kick out of this review. It was very difficult to split the pizza just look at the picture… I’m just disappointed.

Horrible Attitudes Overshadows Great Pizza

I have grown up in the Northern Midwest my entire life and I am from a city close to Chicago, Home Runn Inn pizza has been a pizza that i’ve always thought is simple and absolutely delicious but tonight the attitudes of 3 of the employees that were working at the Chicago Midway location ruined it for me.

To start off, the woman at the counter to order the pizza was attitude heavy and didn’t seem like she enjoyed taking orders and was ordering the guys in the back around like dogs which I will never agree with treating employees that way. Then after my fiance and i spend over 50 dollars combined on pizzas, we move to the bar and we’re greeted by the male bartender which was an absolute jerk. I am all for midwestern mentality, but my god this man was rude to every single paying customer there. I couldn’t believe my ears. He would rudely ignore people unless they were ordering alcohol every second and would tear down people that didn’t order a drink or would ask for a cup of ice or water.

My fiance ordered a beer which was another 17 dollars because the bartender was telling people even if they were paying customers and bought a pizza, you were required to also buy alcohol from him and told people that they couldn’t sit and eat their Home Runn Inn Pizza if they didn’t buy drinks from him. When my Finance told him that I wanted a cup of ice for water, he gave me the nastiest look up and down and looked disgusted by me when we were paying customers in both sections, the pizza and the drinks.

As I was eating my pizza, i accidentally knocked down a small metal cap to put the checks in and he accused me of “throwing things around the bar.” It was a genuine accident because my box knocked it but he caused a scene in front of everyone and made it out to be this huge thing where i was trying to wreck things behind the bar. He was completely horrible to everyone that was buying alcohol or people that were eating their pizzas.

Not to mention the woman at the end complaining the entire time about being there and having to work very loudly and was refusing service because she didn’t want to serve for last calls and wanted to cut things off about an hour and a half before they closed and was absolutely horrible to all of the customers on her side.

I paid nearly $75 dollars for two small personal sized pizzas and a beer, only to be treated like i was a disgusting animal for sitting at the bar top trying to eat and drink in good spirits.

I love their pizza and have always been a Home Runn Inn Pizza advocate but after that experience I will not be going to anymore locations or even buying their frozen pizzas because of the service and treatment that not only I, but 20 other paying costumers experienced in the span of sitting down for 30 minutes.

Bartender Janie was such a bright spot in my morning at the airport. She was welcoming, sweet, and greeting everyone with such positive energy — which is rare at 8:43am while traveling! She made the space feel calm and friendly. Truly appreciated her kindness.

So good!!!! We had a layover at the airport and one of the employees recommended this place for good pizza.

My sister inlaw and I shared a personal size pizza and an Italian sub. Both were delicious!

The staff was very friendly.

Walked up and tried to grab a quick to-go pizza on my very quick layover. There were no pizzas labeled pepperoni so I opened one that inexplicably didn’t have a sticker or writing on the box. The lady behind the counter ran over and started screaming at me that I have to buy that pizza since I touched the box. I just had to walk away and not get anything to eat because I could not deal with her attitude. You don’t have time to label the pizzas but you have time to stand there waiting for someone to try to find out what they are so you can scream at them?? What is this a trap?? Didn’t expect the god complex from the minimum wage employee but here we are. Sorry you hate your job, don’t take it out on me.

First flight from this airport. Went to the Home run. They were very snooty and disrespectful. My granddaughter got the chicken strips and they acted like it was a sin to pay in cash, but they did accept her cash. I went there and was going to order, the first thing I asked was if they took cash and the lady said no. Granddaughter had told me that they had a cash register and had accepted her cash. I don’t know what the problem was, but I would not recommend the place.

Location: Home Run Inn – Gate B17
Date/Time: December 15, approximately 4:00 PM

Upon arriving at Midway Airport, I stopped at the Home Run Inn near Gate B17 and was extremely disappointed by the experience. The two employees on duty were openly complaining and talking to each other while ignoring customers attempting to order. I personally observed several customers walk away after not being acknowledged. Right now I’m listening to them complain about dunkin not having the right donuts since they get them free for working in the airport.

When I requested an ice water and my husband a beer, I was told I could not sit unless I was a paying customer, so I ordered a tea I did not want simply to remain seated. Even then, service was unfriendly and dismissive. Both females were insufferable.

This was a poor first impression of Midway Airport. Travelers expect basic courtesy and professionalism, especially in a busy airport environment. This experience reflected badly not only on the vendor but on the airport as a whole. Will totally try and go through Ohare fe now on.

I had the same issue as many with the pizza dough being undercooked (like raw on the inside) and so the pizza wasn’t great but the wings were good. I mainly wanted to say that the people working tonight were very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to provide great service. Definitely a contrast with the earlier reviews.

Didn’t read review before ordering – looks like our food may have been better than many others. It wasn’t the most amazing pizza ever but for an airport, it was fine for 9pm before a late flight. Employees couldn’t be bothered to smile, answer questions, or make eye contact with any customer that we saw.
