I have grown up in the Northern Midwest my entire life and I am from a city close to Chicago, Home Runn Inn pizza has been a pizza that i’ve always thought is simple and absolutely delicious but tonight the attitudes of 3 of the employees that were working at the Chicago Midway location ruined it for me.
To start off, the woman at the counter to order the pizza was attitude heavy and didn’t seem like she enjoyed taking orders and was ordering the guys in the back around like dogs which I will never agree with treating employees that way. Then after my fiance and i spend over 50 dollars combined on pizzas, we move to the bar and we’re greeted by the male bartender which was an absolute jerk. I am all for midwestern mentality, but my god this man was rude to every single paying customer there. I couldn’t believe my ears. He would rudely ignore people unless they were ordering alcohol every second and would tear down people that didn’t order a drink or would ask for a cup of ice or water.
My fiance ordered a beer which was another 17 dollars because the bartender was telling people even if they were paying customers and bought a pizza, you were required to also buy alcohol from him and told people that they couldn’t sit and eat their Home Runn Inn Pizza if they didn’t buy drinks from him. When my Finance told him that I wanted a cup of ice for water, he gave me the nastiest look up and down and looked disgusted by me when we were paying customers in both sections, the pizza and the drinks.
As I was eating my pizza, i accidentally knocked down a small metal cap to put the checks in and he accused me of “throwing things around the bar.” It was a genuine accident because my box knocked it but he caused a scene in front of everyone and made it out to be this huge thing where i was trying to wreck things behind the bar. He was completely horrible to everyone that was buying alcohol or people that were eating their pizzas.
Not to mention the woman at the end complaining the entire time about being there and having to work very loudly and was refusing service because she didn’t want to serve for last calls and wanted to cut things off about an hour and a half before they closed and was absolutely horrible to all of the customers on her side.
I paid nearly $75 dollars for two small personal sized pizzas and a beer, only to be treated like i was a disgusting animal for sitting at the bar top trying to eat and drink in good spirits.
I love their pizza and have always been a Home Runn Inn Pizza advocate but after that experience I will not be going to anymore locations or even buying their frozen pizzas because of the service and treatment that not only I, but 20 other paying costumers experienced in the span of sitting down for 30 minutes.
My sister inlaw and I shared a personal size pizza and an Italian sub. Both were delicious!
The staff was very friendly.

Upon arriving at Midway Airport, I stopped at the Home Run Inn near Gate B17 and was extremely disappointed by the experience. The two employees on duty were openly complaining and talking to each other while ignoring customers attempting to order. I personally observed several customers walk away after not being acknowledged. Right now I’m listening to them complain about dunkin not having the right donuts since they get them free for working in the airport.
When I requested an ice water and my husband a beer, I was told I could not sit unless I was a paying customer, so I ordered a tea I did not want simply to remain seated. Even then, service was unfriendly and dismissive. Both females were insufferable.
This was a poor first impression of Midway Airport. Travelers expect basic courtesy and professionalism, especially in a busy airport environment. This experience reflected badly not only on the vendor but on the airport as a whole. Will totally try and go through Ohare fe now on.
