Came here without a reservation on a Tuesday as the restaurant looked quaint in photos and had decent reviews. Most of the tables in the main dining room were open but we were seated in a backroom all by ourselves, I guess since we didn’t have reservations. Ended up moving to the bar for dinner so we didn’t feel like we were in detention hall. (The tables in the main room never filled.) We had the hesrts of plam salad which was good. My partner had the lamb shank which he liked. I ordered the salmon which came out burnt and dry and with a side of mashed potatoes with a consistency more like soup. The space was nice but my food was terrible and the service far from welcoming. Also prices are way too high for the level of service and quality of food.

Great vibes and great service! The food is unbelievably good! Ossobuco and salmon featured in my photos. Overall I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

I’ve had better prime rib at an Outback Steakhouse.
I asked for medium rare, got medium well. My server didn’t come for another 15 mins, and I was so hungry I ate it. There wasn’t a lot of flavor, a bit chewy.
The atmosphere is too dark.

We treated ourselves to dinner here on the last night of our trip.
We had a shrimp cocktail appetizer. I was the only one who ate it because the strong horseradish was off-putting to the others, but I love horseradish, so I was in heaven.
My older son had the NY strip steak, which was perfectly cooked and easily as thick as three strip steaks you’d buy at the market. My sweetheart had the ribeye and said it was excellent. He ordered it medium-rare and said he should have ordered it medium. It just needed a minute or two more on the grill. My younger son and I had the petite filet mignon and those were PERFECT. I got mine medium-rare and it absolutely melted in my mouth! Our meals also came with garlic mashed potatoes which were to die for.
We also got creamed spinach which was yummy and not overcooked as it can be.
We hadn’t made a reservation, but they were able to find us a table with a view, which was lovely. It was the perfect way to end the trip. I definitely recommend this spot!

Dark dim steakhouse in North Tahoe. Coming from Texas I’m pretty picky about my steaks. Old Range had a ribeye that was so tender and enormous that I could have eaten for three days. Downside, it had no flavor. I never salt my food, never. Even with the salt, I couldn’t justify the $70 price tag. Sides are served family style. There’s a wine wall where you pick your bottle and bring it to your table. I will try this place again..

Well, let me tell you about my utterly disappointing excursion to the Old Range Steak House. Traveled all the way from the picturesque shores of Hawaii, expecting to indulge in the finest steaks Lake Tahoe has to offer, only to be met with a flavorless catastrophe. The service was as tasteless as the food itself. We ordered the rib eye steak, hoping for a culinary adventure, but they couldn’t even handle a basic charbroil, let alone anything fancier like black and blue or Pittsburgh style.
The service? Utterly bland, lacking any semblance of personality. We were practically greeted with a cold shoulder. Our server graced our table a mere four times, barely acknowledging our existence beyond taking orders and serving food. And let’s talk about the braised beef – no flavor whatsoever, and certainly not the moist, fall-apart tenderness one would expect.
Dessert? Forget about it. We didn’t even bother, given the lackluster performance thus far. And to add insult to injury, they had the audacity to tack on a service fee, citing our party size. A party of eight, including four adults and four kids under six – hardly a reason to justify such a fee.
Needless to say, I won’t be returning, and I feel obliged to warn my fellow carnivores in search of a decent cut of meat around these parts.

We were here visiting Lake Tahoe and came here for dinner for my birthday. Idk why this place only has a 3 1/2 stars. The food is incredibly delicious. I had a New York Strip and my boyfriend had a Filet Mignon. Both came with delicious garlic mashed potatoes. I definitely recommend this restaurant. 10/10. And next time I’m in Lake Tahoe I will definitely come here to eat. We took the leftovers home and had steak and eggs for breakfast and the steak was still and good and juicy.
We did get lucky as walk in’s but we sat at the bar because that was only available. And we are ok with that because we like to sit at the bar for better service.
Ohh and before I forget. You MUST try the home made cheesecake. It is sooooo good. We were so full but we still ordered it and it didn’t disappoint.

Stopped in at 5pm for a drink and an appetizer at the bar, but the hostess said we could not sit at the bar unless we were having a full dinner. We were not ready for that so they turned us away. The restaurant seemed mostly empty, nobody sitting at the bar. Absolutely weird vibe, will not be going back.

My favorite steakhouse in Tahoe! Service is good and servers are friendly. You get complimentary bread with your meal and salads and appetizers are half off when everyone orders an entree. Salads are large enough to share with the whole table. Entrees were served with delicious and creamy mashed potatoes and steak was tender and cooked perfectly. The mushroom sauce is one of the best things i’ve ever eaten and brownie sundae is a must try. Overall we left feeling fulfilled, definitely recommend dining here if you’re in the Lake Tahoe area.
