Great local spot. We stopped for lunch and came back for breakfast. For me to return means the food is very good.
I had a smoked salmon and bacon club for lunch. The salmon is delightfully tender and slightly smoky. I also enjoyed the sweet potato fries. I could only finish half of the sandwich. I wanted to eat all of it.
For breakfast, they were very busy, so we were happy to be treated so well by the staff.
My egg white omelette, they were out of spinach, was still amazing with mushrooms and cheese. My hash browns were crispy as requested, and my pancakes were light and fluffy.
My coworkers loved his eggs benedict and the breakfast burrito.
Extra bonus, the coffee was pretty good too.

I’ve had the pleasure of eating here 3 times now. First time I had the seafood Alfredo. The scallops were about 50 cent piece sized, about 1/2 thick, and grilled to perfection! So we’re the shrimp. The second meal I had was the prime rib and it was one of the best I’ve had in the northwoods. Last night I had a mushroom Swiss with a side of vegetables. Always order medium-rare when given the option and that’s EXACTLY what I got! 3 meals on separate occasions and all perfectly cooked. Lastly I just want to mention how beautiful the plating is. I took these photos with my phone. Absolutely great place to eat!!

Small and quaint restaurant nestled in the heart of downtown Boulder. We stopped in for breakfast with friends and loved the experience. The establishment is decorated with lots of woodsy/cabin like items and the staff was quick to greet us upon arrival. They were busy, but not packed, and it took about 15 minutes to be seated. Service was slightly on the slow side… However, our food made everything with the wait. I ordered a jalapeño pulled pork omelet with Chipotle cream sauce and my wife a made to order omelet with bacon, ham, sausage, tomatoes, and onion. The extra ingredients were kinda expensive at $1.75 each.. but the food we got was absolutely delicious. Our meals both came with choice of either toast or pancakes and a side of hashbrowns that were made crisp to our liking. Overall, we loved our breakfast and will return when we come back through the area in the future.

Waited 30 minutes for a table which was not bad and walked around shopping at stores nearby.
After we sat down our server ignored us for about 15 minutes then eventually looked and us and hollered “hold that thought honey ill be right there” (she wasn’t). There was a large amount of black flies flying around the whole time. Server then immediately asked if we are tourists(we live in Madison and have been coming up north for 20+ years). We were ready to order our food and drinks right away and did so. I got the venison bacon and smoked salmon club pictured. Server was being belligerent the entire time calling us names and messing with us. For example she kept calling us honey and telling us we were so good for being patient in a derogatory manner then on the way to pay the bill told me “you must be a sweet talker”.
The service was ridiculously bad. We arrived at 12 and walked out at 2pm for lunch for two. My sandwich and potato salad was luke warm and seemed like it sat on the counter for a while. Unfortunately will not be back and would not recommend this place to anyone despite the almost decent food.

How do you complain about too much good food?
You receive an abundance of food and, personally, I think my walleye was the best I’ve ever eaten.
Our server was delightful, the restaurant is delightful.

Truly enjoyed the fish tacos on Friday night! The music was awesome, and the service was amazing! One of our favorite places in Boulder Junction!

We had a wonderful breakfast of Salmon Benedict and Italian Benedict on Wednesday. The service was excellent, even though they were busy. I wish I’d gotten the waitresses name because she was FLYING, yet very much engaged with us.
Tonight we enjoyed their Friday Fish Fry. The Two Piece Deep Fried Cod was DELICIOUS! The batter was thin and tasty, coating both generous pieces of cod. The cod was outstanding and the tartar sauce, which I typically don’t eat much of, was delicious. Having a salad bar instead of coleslaw was a big plus. We had a choice of several sides and the rice blend (long grain and wild rice) was wonderful.
Phyllis, our server, was AWESOME (make sure to ask her what the glass jars hanging on the wall with an ear of corn were used for)!
They had a nice selection of beer, ciders, and wine, too.
What a great place to eat and enjoy your experience. We’ll most definitely be back! Stay cool, staff at The Outdoorsman!

Like so many places today, the Outdoorsman Restaurant is dealing with staff shortages. Upon arrival, we were told we would have about a 25 to 30 minute wait to be seated. There were several names on the list ahead of us. It was at least an hour wait. Once seated our service was great and the food was good. We always enjoy our meals at the Outdoorsman. My only complaint this time is that a group of 6 people checked in after us, but was seated ahead of us and several other groups waiting to be seated. According to my husband, after hearing how long the wait was, one of the gentlemen walked into the kitchen and talked to the chef/owner, and the group got seated right away. Not a good look for the restaurant, especially when people have waited an hour or longer to be seated. Some folks waiting were getting agitated about the wait. Then to have someone bypass the wait because they are friends (?) with the chef just makes it worse.

Our server, Jay was perfect, very attentive and helpful. The salad bar was fresh and the eggs were cooked perfectly. The chicken Marcella was delicious and the sweet potato fries the best we’ve ever had. We will definitely be back.

We came on a Sunday morning and only had a 20 minute wait for a party of 7. Service was left to be desired. One lady walked right past my table after filling up her customers cups with coffee. Our waitress was fine, but didn’t refill our coffees or drinks, until the manager came and helped. The food was EXCEPTIONALLY delicious. My daughter had biscuits and gravy which had little sausage meatballs and home made biscuits. Everything tasted fresh and like home cooking. I would recommend this restaurant based on the food and location for sure but I wish the waitresses had better moods and better customer service.
