Reviews
First of all, this place was recommended to us, and I made a reservation back in December for Valentine’s Day. I had been waiting for this day for a long time to enjoy a nice dinner. We reviewed the menu online before coming, but the actual menu at the restaurant was different and more expensive.
When we arrived, we were seated after about 5–7 minutes, which was fine. However, nobody brought us menus or water. Two more tables near us were seated after we were, and for some reason they received menus and water right away — before us. The restaurant was full, but that is not an excuse.
We waited 20 minutes for menus, which is insane, and about 30 minutes for water, while other tables that were seated after us had already placed their orders.
The tables were extremely small, and the worst part was that they were shaking. Shaky tables in a restaurant are very unprofessional — especially when main dishes cost $35–$65.
The menu offered a four-course meal for $92, which sounded amazing. You could choose an appetizer, first course, second course, and dessert from two options each. When the server took our order, she mentioned something about a tasting menu, but we didn’t fully understand what she meant, especially since $92 is already very expensive.
The first appetizers were served 50 minutes after we arrived. Portions were very small — all of them. For example, my main course was lamb with cauliflower. You can see in the picture (taken before I touched the food) that it was just one lamb chop.
Between the first and second courses, there was another 40-minute wait.
Thank you for the free bread, but as a 7-month-pregnant woman, it was extremely uncomfortable for me to sit in those chairs for over two hours.
We had to take dessert to go because it was very warm and hard to breathe inside the restaurant after such a long time. I had to leave and wait for my husband in the car.
I’m not even kidding — our reservation was at 7:45 PM, I left at 9:50 PM, and I left just five minutes after the main dish was served.
The food was average. The cauliflower was overly salted, and I couldn’t eat it.
We wasted $255 on dinner and felt like we worked there instead of enjoying ourselves.
I’m very disappointed and sad. I do not recommend this place. They were clearly understaffed.
We’ve come back several times, and every visit has been excellent. If you live in Washington or are visiting, I highly recommend stopping by this Italian restaurant
The service was extremely slow. We made an early reservation and were seated when the restaurant was not even half full. We ordered shortly after being seated, yet we waited over an hour between courses and our next dish still had not arrived. We had to flag down our server to ask what was happening. While he apologized and waived the drinks (Ty!), the overall experience had already been overshadowed by the excessive wait.
The timing and execution felt disorganized and poorly managed. We understand holidays are busy, but better planning and proactive communication are expected — especially on Valentine’s Day.
Based on this experience, we will not be returning and cannot recommend this restaurant. (I did enjoy the live music performance, to be fair)
UPDATE: After we explicitly asked to pay for what we had already received and leave due to the excessive waiting time, we were suddenly told that our next courses had “just come out” and were packed up in boxes for us (again Ty!).
Unfortunately, both the halibut and the lamb chop (very small portions btw) were visibly way overcooked (see attached photos).
