This is true country cooking ya’ll. It’s warm, hearty, and delicious. I seriously suggest the chicken and dumplings, the chicken fried steak, and the best green beans anywhere. I said what I said! Id happily make a meal of just green beans and be full and satisfied. If your in the area definitely stop by and sample the gastronomic offerings. Happy eating. Sadly I’ve never been for breakfast but I believe i shall remedy that situation post haste.

This was my first time here, it will not be my last. I loved the atmosphere of this friendly family place. I had a double cheeseburger. It was delish!!

Come sit a spell. It may take a minute….but so worth the wait.

This was our first time eating here. We got the “Be Our Guest” special off WDRB. We were super impressed from the moment we walked in! The decor is all about baseball. The restaurant was clean. The service was amazing! The food was delicious! All the staff was very friendly! All the prices are very reasonable! They have something for all taste buds! If you like all the above, I highly recommend this place! We can’t wait to go back! Thanks for a great lunch!

I had dinner tonight at Home Plate. Usually the food is outstanding. Chicken and dumplings were still good. Chicken had a real funny taste but the problem tonight was as my cousin ordered a pork chop with one chop and on the menu. It was $899 for one pork chop and two sides When they brought the ticket they said that it was 1199 and we said it showed on the menu 899 and they said they had to go by but their computer said that that was error She was asked the price before it was ordered. I eat there all the time, but this is very upsetting to order a dinner that said $8.99 and was charged $11.99 even though that was in the price on their menu

It was not my choice to go here. It was my mother, who is a regular I guess. Options are slim in Brandenburg but this was not bad. That’s hardly a raving endorsement either. We had the buffet on Father’s Day.

They were feeding the masses and unfortunately that carried over into the flavor of a number of dishes. The fried chicken was cold. And, that alone cost them 1 star. The lack of heat source was no doubt the culprit. Apart from health code issues it’s a big no no. The fried fish was awesome, but I was lucky to have it fresh. The pasta salad was nothing remarkable but needed more zip and tang. It was room temperature which is very opposite of what it should be. The prime rib was surprisingly tender for being ice cold. The onion rings were chewy and once again cold.

On whole 3 stars is fair.

A Grand Slam!!! Stopped in for an early dinner after a doctor’s appointment. I heard it was the best restaurant in Meade County. I was not disappointed. At 4PM it was relatively busy but I was seated quickly and given a menu. The selection was mostly home cooking southern comfort food.

It took me a few minutes to decide because it all looked so good. I finally narrowed it down to the Open Faced Roast Beef with Mash Potatoes and Gravy with Green Beans. It was all cooked to perfection. My first bite was the green beans that immediately took me back to my grandmother’s kitchen in the Appalachian foothills. They were delicious as was the Mashed Potatoes. Firm and seasoned perfectly. THICK slices of tender Roast Beef sat on top of a thick piece of toast and smothered in brown Gravy. It was amazing. The only way it could have been any better is if there were a side piece of toast to sop up the last of the mashed potatoes and gravy I couldn’t get on the fork. The serving was generous and filling, so I had no room for dessert.

The room was large with baseball team photos and pennats on the wall. Small numbered balls on top of bats attached to home plate bases were a cute way to label the tables.

The “bat” girls scurries around waiting on tables, making sure everyone had what they needed. Even though I was alone, my waitress checked on me several times while I was eating to see if I needed anything. All the girls had smiles on their faces even when not talking to customers which indicated to me, they enjoyed working there.

I will be back and will bring friends. I am looking forward to trying the Pork Chops, Meat Loaf and Cod Fish

Great meal, cheeseburger and tater tots were delicious. Taking home a serving of the hot fudge cake for later. Thanks WDRB for recommending this restaurant!

Today my wife and I decided to try Homeplate restaurant, service was 5 star, but our food wasn’t very good. My wife ordered a club sandwich and fries and I ordered a today’s special country fried steak. Her sandwich the bread was really thin to use on a club sandwich. Each time she went to pick it up, contents of the sandwich kept falling off and very messy to eat when you gripped the sandwich with much pressure the mayo soaked through the bread, due to the thin slices of bread.
I ordered a country fried steak and I was trying to eat it and the taste reminded me of a banquet TV dinner. Not what I would expect from a sit down restaurant. I had my wife too try it and she said, it reminded her of a McRib sandwich, that she had tried years ago. I think they should think about ordering a better quality of meat for their customers if they want a good customer based restaurant too grow.
When people leave the majority of their meal on their plates that should be a sign that something is wrong, especially what a person pays for food now days.
Years ago, this use to be a good restaurant when they had a buffet bar, but now days It’s nothing to brag about, things sure have changed, we’ll definitely not plan on going back there again.

Everything is home cooked and it is amazing! The fried chicken and fried fish were the best I have ever had. Highly recommend the buffet which runs Saturday evenings and all day Sunday. The prices are reasonable and service is excellent! Highly recommended!

The rating is multifactoral to include food, setting, service. The atmosphere and decor seems mismatched and outdated. The place looks older. Confused over whether this place was a sports bar or what..? Its a home- cooked restaraunt. The service was good and friendly. The food was pretty good and homecooked, except the meatloaf. I was really dissappointed in the meatloaf. The edges were dry and it tasted like it had sat out awhile. I’m also use to meatloaf being thick..but this one was like a rectangle burger patty with meatloaf taste…hmmm. The little fried biscuits were nice but had a slight old oil taste. I think this place could use a little improvement and get 5 stars, but for now..its 3..maybe 3 1/2. . I would go back but not get meatloaf.
