Edokko is a small, cozy Japanese mart/restaurant that is a true find for anyone looking for authentic quality. Because the dining area is limited, I’d highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time.
We tried the Party Tray for 2 (includes nigiris and makis) and the Deluxe Sashimi. The fish is incredibly fresh—you can literally taste the quality difference here compared to most places. They carry a variety of fish that you usually won’t find anywhere else in the city. We also had the Miso Soup (you can never go wrong there) and the Agedashi Tofu, which were both excellent.
A unique touch is being able to pick your drinks directly from the mart section! The price-to-portion ratio is very fair for the high grade of seafood you’re getting. Highly recommended for any sushi/sashimi/nigiri lover.

There’s a market for Japanese ingredients tucked in the back that’s adjacent to the back kitchen. Looks like they have some good stuff to stock my pantry with.
Parking might be tight. Definitely will return.

Update 2: Nice delicious unagi don. Recommend lighter on the sauce next time.

We made a reservation for our family of 4. The waitress was super friendly and checked in couple times to see if we needed anything. Food was great! Kids enjoyed the toys/ candy they picked out from the grocery store at back of the restaurant.

Not my first time for sushi, but my first visit to Edokko. We tried a variety of new items, my favourite were the scallops and the Sunomono salad. The bagel roll cream cheese was too large for the roll but still tasty with the salmon. The octopus balls have nice flavour and good texture of the light dough ball. It’s a very cozy dining area and full when we went. I really want to get there for lunch to give the ramen a try. 4.5 rolls out of 5.

Hands down the best sushi and nigiri I’ve had in Winnipeg. Appearances can often be deceiving and this place may look drab but the food and service is top notch. Fish was soft and fresh. They even had king salmon brought in from Japan and it tasted delicious! The sashimi was also fresh and the nigiri was just extraordinary. If you enjoy sushi then this place should be at the top of your list.
Only suggestion would be to improve the dining atmosphere as it can be little dark and boring. Price is high but you pay for the quality you get.

I was so sad when they closed their St. Mary’s location which was just across the street from where I work. But so happy when they re-opened at their current location.
We usually order nigiri and rolls but we decided to try some other things on the menu.
The baby octopus dish was delicious and the scallops were lovely. But the star of the show was the Deluxe Special Bento combo. I liked how you didn’t know exactly what you were going to get and everything was divine.

This wonderful little restaurant and ultra mini store has limited parking and just a few tables.
This restaurant might not be huge but the food is outstanding. The assorted Sashimi was incredible. The Tuna Gomae was excellent. The rolls were great.
The quality of the ingredients is phenomenal.
If you want great sushi come here.
