There’s nothing you can say about Uncle Sam’s except delish. Very good hoagies. Have been coming here so long. Especially when the one in Oakland closed years ago. I will say after being around for so long they still produce quality hoagies. Good portion size. Decent amount of meat and veggies without asking for double meat. If you dine in, you get free fries. If To go, fries has to be purchased. Service is its typical diner service. Staff Nice and quick. It’s cash only. No exceptions. Can’t place phone orders. You have to come in. If you’re on a diet, don’t even bother coming in. But this is a must have hoagie

So had walked in they were not that busy but they had a few customers! They had the register open but the guy was a with a guest so they someone down on the flat top grill section asked when ready to come and order! Which I was still patiently waiting while looking at the menu to decide what I would like to eat! They had took 2 other people near the grill side up at the front by the front door. I was then ready to decide to place! The man at the register had took my order I didn’t know if they would allow my accomodations of adding a certain menu item to my order! So I politely asked and said” I don’t know if you could do this but on my ultra uncles philly could you please add fried egg and hot sausage” the guy just wrote it down added the total. They then immediately started making the order! I greatly appreciated this accomodation! While I was waiting I took my seat and a lady comes froms where they cook and had asked me if I would like a drink on them while I had wait! I said yes please! The food was Soo amazingly the taste was unbelievable greatness! I was able to finish half the sub and the full portion of fries they gave!! But I thought they did a wonderful job! They had went above and beyond and sometimes you don’t see this much! So I greatly appreciate everything and thank those crew member who working at fox chapel waterworks location!! You have a very satisfied and happy customer thank you again and major keep striving to be great!!

Fries were soggy so I came back in to get new fries. Most of the staff was cool, dude with glasses and beard had a weird attitude about it all. Have been coming here since 2010 and it’s not quite what it used to be.

I ordered a cheesecake and Italian. It was two barely 10 inches of subs for $25. Cheesecake was above average but not $25 dollars worth of food. Teasted ok, just not worth that much, in my opinion. Wint be back for those prices. That’s why I rated it low.

Great tasting Philly Cheese steak. Service was friendly, fast and efficient. The line moved quickly and my cheese steak and fries was served very fast. The bread for the sandwich was delicious and the fries were hot, crispy and salted just right.

I had a great sandwich from this place. The prices are great and the food quality is decently high as well. The variety of sandwiches were somewhat limited, but the item that I tried was nice. I tried the mushroom Philly cheesesteak sandwich.
It was very good. They had the perfect amount of mushrooms, steak, and cheese. The mushrooms tasted fresh and juicy. The steak had a nice texture and was also succulent. I added some tomatoes and they were pretty solid as well.
They use Mancini’s bread, which is fully and toasted while they make your sandwich. The fries are just alright, but I did think they were a bit limp and were not seasoned enough.
The service was not the best. I did feel a bit rushed when ordering and the staff didn’t check on me or anything while I was eating. You get the boxes yourself from a little location in the middle of the small restaurant.
All in all, a nice spot for sandwiches. I really liked the mushroom cheesesteak. Good prices, good food, good portions.

Love this place. My favorite is the cheeseburger sub. Ive been going there for years. Staff is super nice and food is always correct, fresh and delicious.

The food here is soooo good. I’ve had their subs and steak salad. The only complaint that I have is the wait, but I learned to order ahead. The cost is worth the amount that you got. The vibe in the restaurant is nice also. It’s definitely a good place to grab a bite for lunch.

Love Sam’s subs but this location has went down hill unfortunately. Took about 50 minutes on a relatively normal flow of business, until we just asked for a refund and left. Still great subs, just not the best process any more. RIP to one of my favorites
