Stopped by this place right before dinner time at the new Snellville location. It’s been “all the buzz” in the online community chat groups, so I was happy to finally get a chance to try it out. First, it is a true in/out takeout type of establishment so don’t have any expectations of ambiance. Second, there are lots of fried foods on the menu. So if you are not into fried foods you may want to skip this one. -I ordered the fried mushrooms as appetizer and the Flounder dinner plate. Everything is made-to-order, so it’s piping hot, which is perfect for fish. They left my coleslaw off the order, I wasn’t crazy about the fries but the Fish was on-point! Lightly seasoned, crispy and hot!!! -I can understand why by the time my order was up there was a lonnngg line behind me. Lastly, I must say, the service was fast, the Cashiers were polite enough and the overall experience was good. I would definitely come back again for the fish and to try the chicken.

20 minutes to order, one hour wait it was OK. I’m giving them a five star because they were in efficient with getting those orders out as busy as they are however, I order catfish. It was fried a little bit too hard for me, the fries was fried too hard, the wings were small, but fresh and good. I will try them again on a date once they settle down from their business and asked for my food not to be cooked that hard so I can actually enjoy it.

I recently visited J&J’s Fish and Chicken, which just opened in the area, and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. I was genuinely excited to try this new spot, especially since it has been getting a lot of attention and buzz locally. I understand that new restaurants often face growing pains, and I went in with reasonable expectations and patience. However, what I experienced went far beyond minor opening-day hiccups.
When I arrived, the restaurant was very busy, which is understandable for a new location. It’s always encouraging to see a business draw a crowd. The staff appeared overwhelmed, but I remained patient and hopeful that the food would be worth the wait. After placing my order, I was told it might take a while, which I accepted. However, the actual wait time ended up being approximately 45 minutes from ordering to receiving my food. For a fast-casual seafood restaurant, that is an extremely long time, especially when there was no communication or update during the wait.
After nearly three-quarters of an hour, my order finally arrived. I had ordered fish and shrimp, expecting a fresh, flavorful meal after such a long wait. Sadly, that expectation was quickly crushed. Both the fish and the shrimp were severely overcooked. The fish was dry, tough, and lacking any moisture, making it difficult to eat. The shrimp were even worse—rubbery, hard, and clearly fried far too long. Instead of being juicy and tender, they were almost chewy and unpleasant.
Overcooked seafood is especially disappointing because it is something that should be handled with care and precision. When seafood is done right, it’s delicious and satisfying. When it’s done wrong, as it was here, it becomes virtually inedible. In this case, that’s exactly what happened. I tried to eat what I could, hoping maybe it was just one bad piece, but it was consistent throughout the entire meal. There was no part of the fish or shrimp that tasted fresh or properly cooked.
Given the long wait time and the poor quality of the food, I felt that the overall experience simply wasn’t worth it. I considered bringing the issue to the staff’s attention, but they were clearly overwhelmed and rushing to keep up with orders. While I sympathize with how busy they were, that doesn’t excuse serving food that is so poorly prepared.
I truly wanted to support this new business and give them a fair chance. I understand that opening a restaurant is difficult and that it takes time to work out operational issues. However, customers still deserve well-cooked, edible food, especially after waiting nearly an hour.
Unfortunately, based on this visit, I will not be returning. Between the excessive wait time and the extremely overcooked, disappointing food, this experience fell far short of expectations. I hope that management takes feedback seriously and makes major improvements in food quality, consistency, and service. With the right changes, this place could improve, but for now, I cannot recommend it.
For anyone considering trying J&J’s Fish and Chicken in Snellville, I would advise waiting until they work out their issues. As it stands, my first visit was frustrating and unsatisfying, and I left feeling disappointed rather than impressed.

The chicken wings were relatively tasty. The fish– I got flounder– was a bit bland….. I would return for the wings if the place didn’t remind me of one of those fish and wing places in the HOOD…… the interior environment while new and clean, was disgraceful when you look at the overall atmosphere…… no organization of the lines. No partitions so the lines flow neatly. Tables and chairs scattered along the perimeter of the interior and the middle of the floor just open, I guess in anticipation of the long lines, which were indeed long. This is clearly a popular place.

Until they can adopt a more disciplined crowd management approach to reduce the hood, flea market feel of the interior environment, I will not be returning to this establishment.

I’ve always loved JJ’s and usually drive to the Eastside location because the food and service are consistently good. Unfortunately this Snellville visit was extremely disappointing.

I waited about 30 minutes in line and another 45 minutes for my order. I ordered four catfish fillet plates but was given four whole catfish plates instead. When I tried to have it corrected the staff near the register ignored me. I waited about 15 minutes just trying to get someone’s attention. When I asked the cashier for a refund she looked at me without responding and continued taking other orders. After waiting another 20 minutes without assistance I honestly left.

The most frustrating part was getting home and realizing the food quality was very poor. The fish was extremely hard with barely any meat and the fries tasted like they were cooked in old oil. It was so inedible.

I attempted to call the next day to resolve the issue but was placed on hold for 30 minutes before hanging up.

This experience was disappointing from start to finish from customer service to food quality. I won’t be returning to this location.

The prices are very low, and they give you a ton of food on top of it. The quality is alright. It tastes good and you won’t regret eating it.

Customer service in nonexistent though. Check it out if you get the chance but not during rush hour.

I had no wait, no line, plenty of seating. Ordered my food and sat down and waited my number to be called. Just like any restaurant, new or not, you have to wait for your food.

Yes, depending on the time of day, there are higher wait times, just like any restaurant, it’s not a new concept.

Food was hot, good, and satisfying.

The young lady taking orders was really nice. The wait time for a Friday night wasn’t too bad. The food was okay —- not warm and they forgot to place one the sides in our bag.
