I moved away and hadn’t been back since they reopened until today. When I looked online at the menu I was thinking these prices must be old and from before covid. To my surprise, I was wrong. Taninos still offers the same high quality food at an affordable price. I sat at the bar and ordered and waited for my food. Jeannine was super attentive even though she was tasked with hostessing and bartending. You could tell that this place is home to a number of regulars who come and playfully banter at this homey restaurant. If you have not been to taninos you are missing out, I hope this place is around for years to come. 6/5 stars, I hope this place is around for years to come!
The pizza is thin-crust and above average.
Love the food.. love everything about this place.
Janine is super awesome. She’s the best person ever met at the bar/restaurant in MKE.
Super sweet lady…
Our server was fantastic. She took great care of us. Even though we forgot to ask for separate checks at the start, and I told her not to worry about it as it was our fault, she did it anyway. She was so friendly, cheerful, and genuine. She was there when we needed her, and scarce when we were just eating and talking. She is a dream server.
The food. I had mozzarella sticks to start and my table mate had the garlic bites. There are SO many bites I think she only ate a quarter of them so she had room for her calzone. The mozzarella sticks are breaded and very cheesy with a tasty marinara – and you get EIGHT. Two people ordered pizzas and three of us ordered calzones. The calzones start with cheese and then you add your choice of up to three pizza toppings for just $11. Each additional topping is only $1. I did sausage, pepperoni, mushroom, and black olive. They hands down have the best calzone I have ever had in my life. The crust is SO thin you get the flavor of it without overpowering the stuffing. And they are stuffed. The herbs and spices along with the garlic oil and perfect amount of cheesiness is so delicious it cannot be described. The flavor combination was so perfect that I didn’t dip it in the sauce because I felt that would actually ruin the taste of the overall calzone. I took 1/2 the mozz sticks and more than 1/2 the calzone home. I can’t wait to get home and have leftovers!
I cannot even imagine trying a calzone anywhere else now as I feel it would be a major disappointment. I can see stopping after work and taking one to go once a month. Yea. I believe it’s THAT good.
The menu is much larger than the one photo on Google. I should have taken pics of each side but I was focused on ordering.
The food is amazing and reasonably priced. They have karaoke if you choose to dine in. They’re drivers for the delivery are friendly and courteous and on time. The Long Island iced teas that are served at the bar. Will put you in your place. I truly have nothing negative to say. Been eating here for over 20 years.
