Really disappointed in the service. We were made to wait over 20 mins for our starters. We were charged for papadoms and chutney which never arrived and they charged us for 1 additional lassi which we never received! Unfortunately my coworker checked the receipt and missed these errors. The food was average. The bar was too loud at one point the lady started blending something in the bar and we couldn’t hear anyone on the table. Wouldn’t recommend it. Overpriced for the quality. Just go to opposite side of the road and eat at ‘4500 miles from Delhi’ restaurant instead. Check photos for the receipt as proof of purchase.

My recent visit to Nutmeg Indian Street Kitchen was extremely disappointing, especially since I have had good experiences here in the past. This time, everything was the complete opposite of what I expected for a £75.90 bill.

Major Issues Experienced:

Food Served Cold: My main dish sat on the pass/hot rack for at least five minutes because the waiting staff were absent from the dining area. It was served completely cold, which ruined the texture and taste.

Serious Allergy Protocol Failure: I specifically asked about allergens for my friend (who is lactose intolerant). We ordered the Vegetable Biryani and were told there were no allergens, but it contained paneer (a milk product). This is a severe failure of food safety and service protocol.

Bland Food & Poor Value: The Nalli Dish was bland and lacked any of the spice and warmth (temperature and taste) I had previously enjoyed here. Given the high cost, the quality and preparation were unacceptable.

Extremely Slow and Unresponsive Service: Waiters were frequently absent from the floor, leading to long waits. For example, a simple request for a slice of lemon took over five minutes to arrive. No one checked on our food quality.

Unauthorised Charge: A £1 charity donation was added to the bill without my knowledge or consent, which I only noticed upon arriving home.

Overall, the high price, bland/cold food, non-existent service, and serious lapse in allergy communication made this a truly dreadful experience. I regret paying the bill and strongly advise management to address the service speed and allergy training immediately.

How lucky are we to have two Nutmeg restaurants in Bristol. Our first time at the street kitchen as we were close about to go to a comedy night at the Beacon. Food, service, everything, absolutely brilliant.

Probably the best Indian meal we’ve had.
They managed to squeeze us in on a busy Saturday night and we sat at the bar.
The barman was very friendly and made for a great experience.
We had the chefs tasting menu which had some amazing dishes and was a lovely way to taste a great selection of their dishes.
The paneer pakora was my personal favourite.

Really amazing Indian street food. Lovely setting. We have been here a few times and we really enjoyed it every time.

I recommend talking to the staff about your taste pallet and letting them recommend dishes!

Loved their butter chicken and garlic naan. Food was good but didn’t like the service. We went to experience the lunch deal but waiter didn’t even show us the menu till we ask for it. I didn’t felt welcoming by staff. It was a big off for me.

Ordered chicken biryani for Hyderabad taste but was not upto the mark for the price i paid for. Overall customer service needs to be improved but for that murgh chicken and garlic naan i may visit again. Chef did a great job.

About 3 times a year I meet several friends for a meal in a different restaurant. We’ve tried a few. Nutmeg Street Kitchen was exceptional. The atmosphere was pleasant and cosy without clutter. The food was delicious (aubergine curry highly recommended) and the staff were delightful. Kway, Ayush and Domino were attentive and entertaining without intruding in any way. They were knowledgeable about the menu and solicitous of one friend’s gluten-free requirements. We had a wonderful time.

We went for my boyfriend’s birthday with a group of friends – and we were quite literally blown away. The service was amazing from the moment we walked in. Such attentive and kind staff. Then the food arrived and it was some of the best food I’ve ever tasted. Took me back to being in India. Authentic, but also elevated – such high quality food. Not a single person in our party of 10 was disappointed. Worth every penny. I cannot wait to come back! If there was 6 stars I would give 6.

We had an amazing experience at Nutmeg last Saturday. Lots of veggie options, and everything was amazingly presented. We also met the head chef who was really kind. Brilliant service too.
