The hamburger was a homemade patty and not large bought packages from the store. The portions were extremely generous. The freeze could have been a little better but overall everything was great. The waitress was so nice and made sure we had everything we needed. It is in an old building but we were there for the food not the atmosphere. We would go again.

This place is great for a late lunch/early dinner on a Saturday. The server was super friendly and the food was delicious. She had made our milkshakes and my cousin’s fried chicken looked phenomenal. I had the gyro burger and it was delicious. The server said they have great pie. No more live music but breakfast all day.

Crazy Joe’s Diner in Kankakee, Illinois, is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates a hearty, home-style meal. This classic diner was packed when I arrived for lunch, but thankfully there was additional seating in the back room. Despite being the only server on the floor, my waitress was incredibly friendly and attentive.

I opted for the Hot Tenderloin with mashed potatoes and gravy, and let me tell you, the wait was worth it! This wasn’t just any tenderloin; it was a massive, hand-breaded masterpiece, cooked to perfection and served with a generous helping of creamy mashed potatoes and rich brown gravy. The portion size was incredible, and the flavors were spot-on, reminding me of my grandma’s cooking.

While the wait time for food was a bit longer than usual (about 30 minutes), the delicious meal and excellent service more than made up for it. Crazy Joe’s Diner is a true testament to Midwestern hospitality and comfort food. I’ll definitely be back for more!

We ate here twice because the food is that good. The first time was dinner. I got the grilled pork chop, and it was absolutely phenomenal. The flavor was out of this world. It was good-sized, and I couldn’t get enough of it. I gnawed every bit of it until nothing was left on the bone. My husband got the meatloaf and said it was really good, also. The waitress, Kelly, was a breath of fresh air and so very helpful and accommodating to our needs. We were so happy with our food and service that we went back for brunch a few days later. Their hash browns are so good… crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Great freshly made French fries. My husband’s omelet was great, and my burger was tasty as well. I will be dreaming about that pork chop until we ever get back here. If we’re in the area again, we definitely will eat here again. For the price, you can’t go wrong.

We love Crazy Joe’s. I had a 2 egg ham and cheese omelet, raisin toast and hash browns for a smaller order. Only $4.99. Waitress was pleasant and fast. She was by herself keeping up with serving and orders in the other room as well as us. Taking phone orders etc. I highly recommend this place for any time of day. Be sure to have a few extra minutes when you go between 10:30 and noon.

Ordered food. Friend paid for it as a surprise. Tip the waitress. But I wasn’t told that and the waitress allowed me to pay for my food. She was aware. I brought it to the owners attention and he argued with me about the order. Instead correcting the mistake. When I tried to dispute the transaction Crazy Joes showed up as The Children’s Place. Cause why would we pay for two meals. And only got one. My friend paid $15.59 and I paid $10.59. I eat here a lot and I am highly disappointed in them.

1st time visiting Joe’s Diner & we will definitely be back. Had the gipsy skillet w a side of gravy and it was delicious. Had to try the gravy bc if the gravy is good, you know everything else will be good too. The place needs a little tlc but other than that the food was great. Huge portions & affordable prices!

Came in to have breakfast this morning 1/4/2026 was not greeted. Sat down at the counter, waitress got on her phone and continued a conversation with someone. Still no greeting, no I’ll be with you in one moment. She walked past us twice, we decided to get up to leave. I looked back and she continues to be on her phone without a care that she just lost 2 customers, never again will we go here. We felt so unwelcome from the moment we walked in.
