The Hours are INCORRECT on Google. Breakfast from 7:30-10:30 every morning. Lunch menu starts at 10:45am and they serve food till late night too.
We ordered a Cesar salad and fish wrap which was just lettuce and a small piece of fish. I had to get up and fetch the cutlery and the sauces whereas the server was was pre occupied.
There are much better restaurants in Kona but this is not the one I would recommend for food.
I’d like to say something about our server, Duke. Although he had a solid number of patrons at the bar, he provided excellent service to us as well. He was friendly and efficient. Just the perfect mix and a relief after having traipsed through several other restaurants before we arrived at Laverne’s.
Although I didn’t mention it to him last night, I live on the Hilo side of the island. We are often asked for restaurant and bar recommendations when friends and family come to visit. Please know that I’m putting Laverne’s on my list, and I’ll be back with my family too. Exceptional service is something I appreciate, and I know others do too. So, thank you for a great dining experience. And thank you to Duke for changing a frustrating situation (at not being able to find a late night place to eat) to fantastic one with his smiling, terrific service.
We went about 3pm so not much a crowd and it was not our 1st choice, actually 2nd because I didn’t want to wait for a table across the way at On the Rocks. Needless to say, I probably should have waited for that table. We got a much better view and service as well as drinks at a hole in the wall bar right after this.
Drinks were eh to be honest, service was not spectacular ant the food was not something I could get elsewhere or from the grocery store besides the house made pickles.
I don’t know you be the judge from the pictures. I used to come here when it was Lulu’s and that place was awesome! I miss it!
The Caesar Salad… idk man. Haha Mom loved the Kalua Pork Sliders and my partner thought the burger was okay.
There are local foods like poke and a few salads, for who prefer healthy options.
Slow service.
Once I and ordered a Cabernet Sauvignon and was served a Merlot instead, which was not even in the menu.
The waitress disappeared, so I went to the bar and spoke about the wine and he said I had to speak about it with the waitress…
