Excellent sushi and rolls! I came here twice in one week and enjoyed it.

I will say that the first time I came I was shocked at how hot it was inside the restaurant compared to outside; usually sushi places are cooler to keep the ingredients lasting longer, but not here. That made for an unpleasant first visit, but the second visit was on a cooler day and the inside wasn’t nearly as hot.

Service is good, they have mobile payment terminals with tap to pay, so everything is fast and easy. Definitely a place I’d come back to again if I was in the area!

Take out experience: miso soup ok, small portion. Sushi – really bad, small amount of not very fresh fish, see pics. Tuna was brown, fish to rice ratio is not worth the money.

Was in town for work and came here on the last night – if I had known sooner I would have eaten here every day. Not cheap, but very reasonable considering the quality of the fish and the clear technique and craftsmanship of the chef. The fish was very fresh and beautifully cut. Rolls we’re the perfect size and well balanced with the ingredients. I love sushi but can be very particular – I get grossed out if anything doesn’t seem quite right, but everything was spot on. Fabulous restaurant, will be the first place I eat the next time I’m in town.

To the manager/owner: I go to many restaurants but mostly write about restaurants that leave a very bad taste in my mouth and repeatedly . I didn’t mentioned two days of diarrhea, vomiting and 3 weeks of dehydration,… Instead of apologizing you have decided to suggest I should stop going to restaurant and cook at home. First, I find it very arrogant to make a very personal reference/suggestion to people you don’t have a close relationship. I’m sure People do cook at home to some level but for verity and fun they also like to visit restaurants and deserve to be treated with respect and get what they pay for without getting sick. Costumers rely on trust, trusting a business that comply with rules and regulations of food hazards,….

My advice to costumers:
I really hope you’ll enjoy dinning at all restaurants and never have what I and some other people like me experienced; but in case of happening, my advise is to Visit an emergency room to document food poisoning and than send a lawyer to visit the restaurants who are proud and stand by their rotten food.

Original review:
Hi, they have really good white rice and miso soup is good too.
This restaurant has changed tremendously from Decent to a terrible- scary bad restaurant. I’ve been to this place more than few times and got sick twice in the past. (They didn’t deserve my generous second chance.)
It takes a lot of ignorance from the kitchen for passing old and stinky fish to people, instead of throwing it in the garbage.
My advice, save yourself and your money by trying any other Japanese restaurants in the neighborhood, like Blue ocean & grill in UTC Mall, my last few visit at this place was very positive so far, much better quality of ingredients and flavorful sauces, bigger portions and less expensive.
Happy dining

FABULOUS SERVICE ! My wife and I moved house to La Jolla a few weeks ago. Since then we’ve been enjoying the many quality eateries close by. In fact on Saturday we decided to have dinner here for the first time….just a short walk from our townhome across the street. We arrived around 6.45pm and a hostess / server named Kate told us the wait would be about 10 minutes. The place looked totally packed out as you would expect with a top quality eatery. Within a few minutes we were seated at a booth table near the front entrance but totally comfortable. A smiling server named Alice brought us tall iced waters straight up. We ordered some appetizers…1 x Assorted Tempura, 1 x Chicken Gyoza ( potstickers ), 1 x Spicy Dumpling to kick things off. For our mains my wife selected Chicken Teriyaki Don while I went for the Gyu Don ( Japanese Beef Bowl ). FIRST UP ! Our complimentary bowls of Misu Soup came out fast followed even faster by our 3 appetizers. Everything tasted really good ! Our main courses arrived at the perfect time, looked great and tasted wonderful. We appreciated the very courteous service of our servers Alice and Kate. CAN’T WAIT TO COME BACK !

Casual, colorful, floral decor.
Attentive friendly service though it wasnt crowded when we went.
Though rolls and sashimi are pricier than we are used to, they also seemed bigger and good quality.
Ordered:
Salmon avocado roll
Caterpillar roll
Geisha roll
Tonkotsu Ramen- good variety of toppings but would prefer the pork to be softer as some of it was chewy.

Extremely fresh food! The fish was very good and fresh from the sushi. All dishes were extremely good and tasty. There was a large crowd inside but they still were able to seat and assist us in a timely manner. The service was great, too.

Tasty Japanese food in a busy shopping mall nearby UCSD. The seating is cozy but the interior has a great vibe with tasteful decor.
I have gone with friends and family, and both times it was a great experience. The service is polite and friendly, and the rolls are delicious. I loved their scallop nigiri as a special treat.
