Some of the best Mexican food I’ve had in Chicago! Incredible restaurant and amazing food! Can’t recommend this place enough, it’s owned by a family who are always there helping run daily operations. I’ve been over 5 times and I enjoy every single entree they serve. I always try something new every time I go and it’s so good! It is pretty small inside and not the most conducive for large groups, but they may be able to put two tables together to accommodate a group up to 6 people, if they’re not super busy. It’s also BYOB! They offer dine-in or takeout. Definitely check them out when in the area or in the mood for delicious Mexican food!

My sister and I decided to try this place out for lunch and it was spectacular! The food was super delicious, and the staff were very nice about my baby being a little loud. I would recommend coming here, as soon as you walk in, it smells amazing! My daughter ate everything on her plate, and we both loved it.

The option to BYOB is also a nice plus. Food prices are very reasonable. The restaurant is quaint but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Would highly recommend!

The flavors are great. I got the enchiladas suizas. It came with tomato sauce and sour cream on top. It was filled with ground beef, potatoes, carrots and peas. It came with 3 enchiladas and beans and rice. They have Coke products. Cans only. I also got a pork tamale. It was delicious. They give you free chips and two salsas. A red and green salsa. The staff were friendly and quick. Also the restaurant was very clean. I will definitely be back. The restaurant is pretty small but your food comes out quick. No waiting when I went during lunch .

I have grown up going to this restaurant and it has been truly a formative experience. Whether it is the horchata, asado de puerco, enchiladas verdes or queso fundido, the food is amazing and reminds me of Mexico.
To top it off, the service is incredible. Señora Maricela treats you like family and the dining experience is wonderful.

It’s one of the very few Mexican restaurants in the neighborhood of Lakeview. They have been there for nearly 20 years and are a local favorite. It’s a small, family-owned restaurant, but the food they offer is authentic and delicious. Do yourself a favor and order the tres leches cake! They make it in house (multiple times a week due to high demand).

A great spot for a chill dinner with friends. I bring everyone who visits me in the city here on their first night and my friends and I stop in monthly. The atmosphere is relaxed but always friendly and the food has never dissapointed once in the last 8 years. Love the tacos and fajitas, and you can’t beat their tres leches cake.

Is trying to eat at all the Mexican places in Chicago doable? I think it’s a hard thing to complete. So let me get into it!
The food at Buena Vista Restaurant was surprisingly good! My friend and I got the nachos as I have to say it’s was great. The temperature and the freshness of the dish made you want to have another plate of it. I got the three taco dinner and I was happy that I got that since I normally get it at other places. The services was as expected as it is a small finally owned business so we had to be patient which isn’t a problem for me at all. The atmosphere was like you were back in time. It’s refreshing since not many places are like that. I like retro places and to me it felt like back in the day. Overall, I will say give BVR a try if you want authentic food with a charming wait staff.

This is a super cute restaurant in Lakeview! I loved the family owned vibes and the service was so kind and attentive. The portions were very generous and reasonably priced so I enjoyed that. I split the loaded nachos and the mole enchiladas. I loved the nachos and the enchiladas were good too but I think I learned that I’m not the biggest mole fan even though they were well done. I was a bit bummed there wasn’t more fresh pico de gallo or freshness on with plate in general but was still a great meal.
