George’s offers a wide variety of food, from fresh salads and juicy burgers to classic fries. They also serve alcohol, and there’s even an arcade in the back, which adds a fun touch. I’ve been coming to this location since I was a kid, and the food has always been great. The decor is really cool too—unique and full of character. Definitely a go-to spot!

Good food and fun atmosphere. It definitely has the vibe of a small town dive bar (but welcoming to kids) where the food isn’t dazzling, but reliably good. Pretty sure half the patrons were regulars who are on a first name basis with the staff. Worth going.

Great locals bar in Baton Rouge. Erin was a great bartender. The food specials cant be beat. Monday red beans and rice and Tuesday the pot roast is a must have. We stop there everytime we are in town.

food great. lady at front taking orders unnecessarily rude. I drove way out of my way to take my son because i had been there 30ish plus years not realizing it was actually the one under the bridge i had went to that has since closed. I just remembered it was George’s. After criticizing the way, I wrote my order down on the order sheet she supplied for my to write myself she states
“no that’s not right the kitchen will get confused” I commented “i guess this is why i’m not a waitress here is a blank one if you want to rewrite it” her comment “ this is how we have always done it “
I responded “ i have not been here in like 40 years and don’t remember writing my own order” she replied
“we have not even been open 40
years” literally looking at me as if she wanted to argue. My son standing uncomfortable because he caught the odd behavior. I’m thinking, excuse me but how about a welcoming comment something along the lines of “well good to finally have you back in” . No just pure rudeness. Shes way too comfortable in her position. Not good for new business…..I won’t be back at least to that location. Just discovered there is another one. Food was great though.

Great place for dinner, nightly specials that don’t disappoint. Pot Roast, red beans & rice, cheeseburger, steak & baked potato, BLT, lots of great options. Staff is professional and friendly. Welcome and inviting place conveniently located at the corner of Staring and Highland.

I recently brought my family to George’s Southside for lunch with friends, and we had a great time. I love the dive restaurant vibe, even with its popularity. The menu had plenty of great choices—my burger and my wife’s po’boy were both fantastic. The service was friendly and fun, which made the experience even better. We’ll definitely be back!

Great neighborhood “dive-bar”, with counter service (fill out your own order then pickup at the bar).
Good burgers, fries & rings are a staple. They do have a pretty substantial menu with the usual bar grub.
Great place to catch a game on one of several tvs or just hang out.

Great vibes and amazing food. Immediately wanted to return and try other menu items. Had the roast beef poboy which was a good choice. It didn’t have the thicker gravy like some places and it comes with a little cup of broth on the side to dip. Onion rings were good and enough to share.

Ham & Cheese Po Boy, Shrimp Salad, Cheese Sticks, & Onion Rings were great! And of course the sweet tea hit the spot. First time visiting but recommended by local family members. Will def go back again!

This place is a BR institution, in business for many years. It’s very casual, and good for a quick bite with the family. Not much ambiance, kind of dark and the interior largely unchanged for many years. The menu is large, with just about every sandwich option you can think of including tons of poboys and burgers. The food isn’t mind-blowing, but it’s good for what it is and definitelyhits the spot. My colleague and I split a whole shrimp and whole ham & cheese, and both were good. Overall, a solid choice for lunch or dinner and great for groups bc there is something for everyone.
