Excellent food and great flavors. The chicken and shrimp pho was outstanding — rich, comforting broth with generous portions and fresh ingredients. Definitely one of the best Vietnamese spots in Barrhaven. Will be coming back again!

I had a great dining experience at this Vietnamese restaurant. The food was beautifully presented and tasted just as good as it looked. The portions were generous, and everything felt freshly prepared. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, making it a nice place to enjoy a relaxed meal. Overall, this is a solid spot for authentic Vietnamese food, and I would definitely come back again

Lovely spacious and clean Vietnamese restaurant. My friend said the chicken noodle lacked a little flavour in the broth, but I found the vegetarian pho to be quite on point – definitely bonus point in my book for offering vegetarian broth!!!!! Pho had 3 sizes.

Dinner time on a Sunday gets quite busy around 5:30-6pm so staff was unattentive most of the times given all the patrons at once, even to just place an order. I would definitely give the place another try next time!

PS: If you look at the restaurant from certain side of the parking lot, it looked like the place is closed because it looked dim. They have a side corridor to enter the restaurant but rest assured it is open during their hours of operation.

We ran in for a meal as it was raining outside and we really liked the food: ordered beef, soup , rice chicken rolls , and vegetables chicken and shrimp stew. My stew was delicious! Nothing overly salted or spiced. Was flavourful meal , tender chicken and portions were too big to finish so we took “To Go” what we couldn’t finish. We will definitely be back ! Highly recommended!

We had high expectations for this restaurant since it’s been around for a long time, and with such an extensive menu, we assumed the experience would match its reputation.

Unfortunately, it didn’t quite meet our expectations. The portion-to-value ratio felt off—paying $19 for a large pho, we expected more than one meatball, which was disappointingly cut into four pieces. The broth itself was cloudy and oilier than what we’re used to, with a slightly funky odor, as if the meat wasn’t fresh. We had to throw it out.

The calamari batter was overly thick, masking the seafood flavor. While the chicken wings had decent flavor, their texture suggested they might have been boiled before being sauced, which wasn’t appealing. The quail was the most disappointing dish—over-fried and stale, with a jerky-like texture. The shrimp fried rice was dry, basic, and lacked sufficient shrimp. There was a total of 2 shrimps, cut into 3 pieces each – not worth $21.

Our bill came to nearly $200, and frankly, we’ve had much better quality for far less at other restaurants in Barrhaven. This isn’t meant to be rude—just an honest reflection of our experience.

We’ve been coming to this restaurant for a few years, but our most recent visit will definitely be the last.

1. Portions have shrunk to an insulting degree.
I ordered a middle-size egg noodle and stir-fry noodle — for over $20 — and what I got looked like a kid’s meal. A five-year-old might leave hungry. I asked the manager if there was a mistake, and he casually told me, “That’s normal.” No apology, no explanation. Just a shrug. Inflation is one thing, but this felt like a ripoff.

2. Dirty table — twice.
We were seated at a table that had visible food and soup stains. Not subtle — clearly not cleaned. They came by to wipe it down twice and somehow it was still dirty. In the end, we had to clean it ourselves just to feel okay about eating there. That’s just not acceptable.

3. Dirty dishes.
Two of our five dishes came out with leftover food on them. Not “a smudge,” actual residue. We pointed it out and the server swapped them out without a word — no apology, and the replacements still weren’t fully clean. It was honestly stomach-turning.

We left feeling completely let down. It’s hard to watch a place you used to love fall apart like this — overpriced tiny portions, poor hygiene, and a complete lack of care. This visit ruined it for us.

We’re done.

We have been dining regularly in house and takeout since they opened over 20 years ago. The food is always incredible. Full of flavour, delicately spiced and and obviously cooked with great care and love. On our last visit my wife convinced me to try menu item 209, pork shrimp and vegetable egg noodle soup. At $21 for a super large shareable bowl it is great value and it is incredible. The pork is so tender and beautiful flavour. The broth wonderfully spiced and not salty. The noodles are plentiful with lots of classic vegetables. It’s a great soup on a cold winter’s day. Our server was very attentive and helpful. We also had 101 spring rolls and 102 shrimp summer rolls and wow, always so good. A pot of tea for 2 and it is a wonderful meal. The dining area is beautiful with local and other artwork on display, very elegant and cozy. If you are looking for a good value, high quality and welcoming and warm dining experience this is the place. We haven’t been disappointed in over 20 years

Great service and really good food. Came out quickly and hot. Large menu which could be intimidating, but, they seem to have a few items for the “I just wanted something asian but can’t decide” crowd. Excellent sear on the chicken and shrimp, well seasoned and flavourful. Good size plates. Comfortable atmosphere and tables not too close together. Fairly attentive staff. Lots of vegetables and protein to be a satisfying experience.

BVR is 10/10 because the flavour and portion sizes are great! I always order the rice with chicken or rice with beef & shrimp. The salad is also deIicious and I would love more salad in the platter! I would suggest that they add a spring roll to the platters! Highly recommend if you’re in the Barrhaven area!!

First time trying this place out and food was very good and had great flavor. It was quiet when we went and service was good. However, found it to be very pricy for the quantity served especially the vegetable fried rice which was a quite less for 2 people.
