The restaurant is very cute and classic, with a pizza parlour downstairs serving authentic Italian pizza. I had the seafood pasta, which was excellent. The complimentary bread was fresh, and I also ordered the bruschetta, served on a perfectly toasted crouton — delicious. The rosé paired really well with the meal.
My server was fantastic — very attentive and helpful, especially when recommending seafood options. Overall, I had a very good experience. Not too busy, very authentic, and quality food. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Little Italy.
When we checked in, the host immediately told us they were “at capacity” and that we would have to wait. I asked how long, and she said about 15 minutes, so we said that was fine and waited. But after waiting much longer than that, we noticed a group of six girls walk in around 7:50 saying they had a 7:45 reservation and were running late. The host told them it was no problem and said they would be seated right away.
At that point I went back to ask what was going on with our table, and the host told me again that they were at capacity and couldn’t give us any kind of timeframe. I asked if they had overbooked reservations and why we were able to book through OpenTable if they couldn’t honor it. She told me they can’t control how many reservations come in through OpenTable, which didn’t really make sense.
Eventually another host came over and said they could seat us in the very back patio. We agreed, but honestly it felt pretty disappointing. The area didn’t have the same atmosphere as the rest of the restaurant and felt like an afterthought.
Once we sat down, things didn’t improve. No one came over to greet us, offer water, or ask if we wanted drinks. After sitting there for a while with no service at all, we decided it was best to just leave and go somewhere else. As we were getting up to leave, a waitress came over saying she was on her way to help us, but by then the whole experience had already been frustrating.
Dining out is about more than just food — it’s also about the experience and how you’re treated. Unfortunately, the customer service here really missed the mark for us. The whole situation felt disorganized and the attitude from the host was pretty rude and dismissive. There are so many great restaurants in Little Italy, but based on this experience we probably won’t be coming back.
we ordered the lobster ravioli, which was the highlight. the pappardelle bolognese and tortellini al brasato were also fantastic. we shared four pasta dishes between five people, and it ended up being the perfect amount. no one was overly full and there were no leftovers. the food was excellent and the overall experience was so warm and memorable. definitely worth the visit.
From the moment we sat down, Carol made us feel genuinely welcomed—not just served. Her knowledge of the menu was outstanding; she offered thoughtful recommendations with confidence and enthusiasm, and every single suggestion was spot-on. She timed everything perfectly, checked in just the right amount, and somehow anticipated what we needed before we even asked.
What really set Carol apart was her warmth and professionalism. She struck the perfect balance between attentive and relaxed, making the entire evening feel special without ever feeling rushed or over-managed. It’s clear she truly cares about the guest experience, and it shows in every interaction.
The food and atmosphere at Illando were fantastic, but Carol elevated the entire night. If you’re dining here, do yourself a favor and ask for her—you’ll leave already planning your next visit.
