Awesome place to eat! Food is fresh and the service is great! The employees are outstanding. The only restaurant in Shelby where when you walk in the door people actually talk to you. They really value you as a customer and make you feel welcome. My brother drives from York, SC twice a month just to eat at Mayflower.

Nice staff, cute decor. The fried catfish was melt in your mouth tasty and the hush puppies were great! My husband had the 2lb order of crab legs and enjoyed it, but only because we are on a camping trip and happened to have real butter with us for him to eat them with (they were nice enough to melt a stick down since he has food allergies and they had no real butter just margarine with soy in it). All in all, good meal, but real butter should always be used on seafood.

I order the Mayflower Broiled Special. I paid 16.00 bucks for the most dried out, room temperature white fish I’ve ever ate in my life. It came with no butter and the fish was so cold I couldn’t even use table butter to spread it across the fish because the fish was so cold it wouldn’t melt.
My scallops were so dry I couldn’t eat them and the bite I did eat tasted like it had pieces of cardboard sprinkled over it. The stuffed crab was completely over cooked and very dry as well. I would have to say that this was the worst seafood restaurant I’ve ever ate at. There was no real flavor to anything I ate. It’s the price I pay for going to a seafood restaurant surround by land on all sides.

Service was pretty good. Of course they were probably only about 5 or 6 tables of people in there when my party came in. I thought the fish could definitely use a bit more seasoning for flavor. Seems to be a nice atmosphere and a clean restaurant.

EXCELLENT Seafood. The BEST Shelby has ever had available. ‘Jonas, the head chef is an exceptional chef! Most of their seafood comes in on Thursdays but I had carry out crab legs this past Wednesday night and you couldn’t ask for anything fresher! Hat’s off to Jamie also. She is one of the managers. Top notch customer service and friendly atmosphere! We’ve been going there 1 or 2 times monthly since they opened.

I’ve been to a Few Mayflower’s in the past. I promised myself that I wouldn’t torture myself with bad food, and horrible service again. My wife convinced me to try the one here in Shelby NC. The food was great, and the service was even better. Keep up the good work!!

I was a little upset tonight over the food. I always get a broiled platter. I was upset because it had no flavor. I had to add flavor to make it worth eating. So disappointed i have had this in the past and have been ok with flavor. But to tonight was not good. So bland that im not sure why i paid for this. I could have done better cooking at home!!!

I stopped at this restaurant on my trip from topsail Island to the mountains and I will have to say it was better, more for your money then anywhere on the coast. I would recommend this place to everyone. The seafood was awesome. Two thumbs up.
