An okey restaurant (7 out of 10), where the food quality is good; but not very good (small things like the prik nam pla could be better). Paying 5 euro to top up your rice was really a not so nice service, but for the rest it is okey (not bad, not good).

Tawan Tai in Antwerp is one of the most memorable Thai dining experiences I’ve had in Europe. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels warm and authentic, with a no-frills setting that lets the food take center stage. The menu offers a wide range of traditional Thai dishes, all prepared with fresh ingredients, vibrant flavors, and genuine attention to detail — you can really taste the balance of spices and herbs that makes Thai cuisine so special. 
We tried several items, including the Pad Thai, red curry, and spicy beef Laab, and every dish was beautifully seasoned and served in generous portions. The Pad Thai stood out especially — perfectly balanced with tender noodles, crisp bean sprouts, nuts, and lime, transporting us back to the streets of Thailand with each bite. 
Service here is friendly and attentive. The staff welcomed us, explained menu options, and ensured that each dish suited our preferences. They were also fast without feeling rushed, which made the entire meal relaxed and enjoyable. 
Though the interior is simple, that only adds to the charm — it feels like a hidden gem where locals and visitors alike return for consistently excellent Thai food. Tawan Tai is definitely worth a visit if you’re in Antwerp — authentic taste, great service, and thoroughly satisfying dining from start to finish!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Very tasty and well prepared Thai specialities, beautifully served… we can’t digest cilantro(coriander leaves) and they took this perfectly into account. My kids loved this one too! It was more than we could eat and they kindly put the leftovers in a bag. Great service.

Nice Thai food near the city centre. I was pleased to see the many Gault Millau ratings adorning the walls, the food is definitely worth it.
Tawan Tai seats plenty, so I’m sure it caters to groups easily- the food is also designed to.
We had a variety of dishes, with the option to add some spice (or reduce it).

Authentic Thai food, just like what you would find in Thailand!! Very friendly staff and great atmosphere.
Only reason why it doesn’t get a 5 star is due to price. But we are definitely coming back for more! Very happy with the meal.
