I would not recommend eating at this place. This is a stuffed fish dinner and the peppers and onions are over powering the meal its self . The fish is super soggy and taste like mayonnaise and tartar sauce together the “ crab meat “ taste like mush. I don’t wanna sound rude but they aren’t African American so they cannot cook good “ soul food “ as we would I suggest they hire people of some color or who’s more experienced in the soul food culture because this was terrible not one thing was good. They have Spanish & Asian people cooking & like I said I don’t want to sound rude but they cannot cook soul food every culture has they’re strength and weakness this is completely a No please get colored people in there that know how to cook or the state can just simply remove them from business because this is unacceptable

The building is a little outdated but a lot of their food is flavorful with huge portions! So I’m a forever customer. Especially being in District Heights and you’re not walking through beggars or “youngins” hanging outside of the store.
Today I had the 3 piece smothered pork-chop dinner w/ greens and yams ($21.99). This was my first time trying the smothered pork-chops, they were “ok”, sauced with gravy on the outside but a little dry (to my liking) on the inside. Greens were good, I always add extra vinegar and hot sauce. Yams are tasty.
I ate everything, so it wasn’t bad at all.

The Mac and cheese (boxed Mac) i recently purchased was sour/rancid. Called, returned back to the restaurant. Replaced my order with collards. Got home and the greens were mushy-like. Lesson: cook at home lol
Even after I returned the vomit n cheese, they were still selling it to other customers. Ain’t no way y’all (staff) didn’t smell that! I couldn’t with the bag double wrapped and the smell contained. I can only imagine what the back kitchen looks like.
The male staff moved suspiciously when I returned there as if he knew…hmmm ok! Overall…damn near all the food is greasy! Eat at this location with absolute caution.

I ordered a porgy dinner and the fish was not fresh. I did call to complain, however they share its fresh. I’m a seafood lover and from NC I know when fish is fresh or not. I will not be patronizing them again. I will stay with the one in New Carrolton food always good!
Editing my review. This morning 12/30 I found hair stuck in my fish. See photo. My hair is braided so it definitely not mine. This means they are not using nets in the kitchen. I think I will contact the health department to do a check on them. This is unacceptable!

I ordered the combo: Croaker, Shrimp & Scallops: I ordered this meal through Uber Eats however, Uber Eats didn’t fix the food or pack it for delivery!!
The shrimp & scallops was laid UNDER the croaker which made both the shrimp & scallops very SOGGY & WET from sittin in the grease & under the fish!!
I didn’t receive my requested tartar sauce or cornbread!! The strings beans was sooooo bland, no taste!!
The Mac&Cheese look like it came straight from the box, noodles hard!

If you are in search of a place that serves straight-up grease on a plate – then this is the destination! The food was drowning in grease and was very distasteful. The inside of the restaurant truly needs some TLC, and the location simply is not ideal for any type of good business.

THEE WORST MID ATLANTIC I’VE EVER BEEN TO! I usually go to the New Carrollton location & have never had an issue. The food at the District Heights location was AWFUL! I wasted $23 on a crab cake sandwich that tasted sour, ice cold broccoli & cheese & some potatoes. The only part of the meal that was edible was the potatoes. I’ve had MANY crab cakes from the New Carrollton location & always had pieces of lump crabmeat in the cake & they were delicious! The one I got today was some kind of chopped up meat that didn’t taste or look like what I usually get from the other location. Idk WHY the broccoli and cheese was ice cold!! And they handed me 2 slices of wheat bread for the crab cake sandwich They don’t even put it on a roll or bun. This milust be a knock-off Mid Atlantic cuz not only did this location look dusty, they didn’t have half of the side dishes served at the other locations!! I’m not eating this food! I wasted $23 & want my money back!!

The fried chicken wings does not have batter on them. They wasn’t fully cooked, just nasty! The macaroni was 5/10 Just noodles and cheese. But the Yams 10/10 love them
