We celebrated my husband’s birthday at The Graceful Ordinary and it was such a great evening. From the moment we sat down, the service was fantastic, very attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm without ever feeling overbearing.

The food was incredible. The venison was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor, the Humboldt Fog goat cheese was rich and creamy in the best way, and the sea bass was outstandinglight, flaky, and beautifully balanced. Every dish felt thoughtful and elevated.

But the real standout? The cocktails. The TGO Clover and Cabin Fever were next-level. Creative, perfectly balanced, and honestly some of the best cocktails we’ve had in a long time. If you go, do not skip the drinks—they’re worth the visit alone.

The vibe was lively and energetic, which we loved for a birthday celebration. It does get a bit noisy, so just something for others to be aware of, but it absolutely adds to the bustling, fun atmosphere.

Overall, amazing food, killer cocktails, great service, and a vibrant scene. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back. ✨

We had a wonderful experience at Graceful Ordinary, one that’s hard to match outside of Chicago. From its comfortable yet elegant design to the unique menu, every detail was carefully considered. The food was delicious and thoughtfully presented, and the service was excellent.

We were fortunate to visit on a very warm day towards the end of September. We sat on the fully screened-in veranda and enjoyed the scenery in comfort.

We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a unique, elevated dining experience; no matter where you’re traveling from, it’s worth the trip.

This place has cool vibes, friendly service and delicious food. It is pricey but worth it. We had the pierogis which were delicious, the monkfish and venison were also perfectly prepared. The fig and the furious cocktail was 10/10. The old fashioned was fine.

Cozy, dark, intament vibe. Very experienced bartenders, servers, runners, chefs. You are treated like family there. Skip downtown Chicago and come out here for a upper excelon experience in the suburbs. Reservations matter unless you can snag a seat at the bar, but bar is small. Plan to spend at least $120 per person. If you can live with that, you won’t be disappointed. If you can get Tiffany as your server, you are in luck. She’s very knowledgeable, a superior server and just an easy to talk to person that makes your experience that much better.

This is my 5th time going to the Graceful Ordinary and each time has been such a pleasant experience. The ambiance is warm and welcoming. Happy hour is my favorite time to go to snag a table and order their $2 oysters and $10 cocktails. From their entree menu- the pork belly is immaculate- literally one of the best platters I’ve ever had. Steak was also super delicious and exactly how I wanted it (medium rare). Definitely one of my go-to spots now.

My wife took me for my birthday dinner after noticing Chef Curren’s name. He was the chef at one of our favorite restaurants in Chicago years ago, Blue 13.

The Graceful Ordinary did not disappoint. Inventive drinks and dishes with beautiful colors and flavors. The bread to start was amazing. Then we had the Maytag Whipped Bleu Cheese and Sweet Corn Ravioli which were wonderful. I really enjoyed the Brussel Sprouts and the Sweet Corn Berry Sundae. They took some of my favorite flavors, which I am very discerning about, and elevated them.

We sat on the veranda which was lovely on a Friday night in August but I loved the look of the inside. I can’t wait to go back again and have more dishes.

Megan,
Our family gathering has been much anticipated for several weeks, and we weren’t at all disappointed. The food was excellent; the floral arrangements which I left to your discretion was beautiful and well received. And of course our requested server, Shannon, is absolutely the best! We couldn’t ask for better.
Your venue is our favorite in St. Charles; loved the private dinning room! We look forward to our next visit.

Tiffany Cozzi made our dining experience delightful and fun! And Miles is an amazing bar tender who shares the unique ingredients that elevates their cocktails. Try the espresso martini!

The good: the atmosphere is nice. Dimly lit, candles on the tables. The food was good. It was well prepared and presented thoughtfully.

The bad: Though good, the food was not great either. It was also a bit overpriced for what it was and the portions are quite small. What really hurt the experience was that we had a reservation for 3. I showed up before the other 2, but was told they were at the bar and I could find them and wait for our table which wasn’t quite ready. I went to the bar and was indifferently kicked out of that area by the bartender because it was apparently a private party. I laughed since I had just been sent there by the hostess. She seemed not to care. She said nothing and didn’t acknowledge the awkwardness or inconvenience. My party was not at the bar. I went back to ask the hostess what to do since my party wasn’t there. Nobody seemed to know or care, and nobody apologized or even acknowledged the awkward inconvenience.

Then the other two people came in. We were gathering for a birthday. Everyone was happy and looking forward to dinner, though my mood was starting to dampen. Then the waiting began, despite it being our reservation time. They asked us to wait. With staff seemingly indifferent to the situation, we were not seated until 30 minutes AFTER the reservation. Leading up to that, they offered patio seating and another less desirable option, at no point acknowledging what was happening. It just wasn’t well handled, to say nothing of the obvious lack of planning and organization that caused the issue. It was disappointing and I’m not sure I’ve ever had service that lacking at a restaurant that presents itself as nice as this one.

A wonderful dining experience overall — the atmosphere, service, and flavors were excellent. The scallops were perfectly cooked and very enjoyable, though I was a little disappointed to see that the potato side dish was removed. Nevertheless, everything else was outstanding
