Phenomenal birria tacos, Michoaacano (spicy beef and red onion) tacos, chips and guac, everything was delicious and perfectly done. Got the Tres Leches cake to go as well and it was definitely the best we’ve found in the area. This is our new favorite spot!

Amazing authentic Mexican food! I am so happy there is a vegan option for every item on the menu!! It’s such a great feeling to not have limited options and to actually experience all the traditional styles with different vegan alternatives. They also have meat options, so everyone in your group has something to choose from — love that. I really wish more restaurants would adopt this method!
Everything I’ve tried so far has been phenomenal:
• Vegan soyrizo Mexi-gyro: 12/10
• Vegan enchiladas: 10/10
• Vegan flautas: 10/10
• Vegan tacos
• Cactus: 4/10
• Soyrizo: 6/10 (I don’t love tacos in general so that’s not on them)
• Vegan asada fries: 10/10
The customer service is great, the items are affordably priced, and the staff is clearly very hardworking. You can tell they’re passionate about what they do and it really shows in the quality of the food.
I’d LOVE to see a location open closer to where I live in Pleasant Hill or Altoona, but that’s just me being selfish because the food is that good.

Some of the best tacos in Des Moines. Highly recommend Michoacána which is beef with a little extra spice and grilled onions. They also have a vegan version which is legit! The churro ice cream is also amazing, tastes similar to Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal. They also have some interesting agua frescas like egg nog, horchata expresso, and pecan. Their classic jamaica is perfect too.

Love the full vegan menu with so many flavorful choices! I placed an Uber Eats order for my husband who was driving through Iowa at night and requested the restaurant to hold it for later (Uber Eats scheduled pickup ended 2 hours before closing time), and the staff read my notes (in Spanish) and waited. My husband got a hot meal and he said it was probably the best vegan burrito he had ever had. He said the lady at the counter was very friendly and courteous as well. We moved from Des Moines recently, and when we came back to visit it was the one spot we hit. We moved to southern Texas and have yet to find a better Mexican restaurant to replace it (a mission I’ve deemed impossible as El Michoacano is my favorite restaurant of all time). Best vegan options out of any restaurant in town. My meat-eating friends love it too.
I recommend the vegan al pastor sopes, vegan flautas, and vegan hortchata, though everything is absolutely delicious.

We went late afternoon. You order at the counter and they call your order when it’s ready. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food came out hot and delicious. You really get a good value for your money. The flavor was so good and the meats were cooked well. Reminded me of my family’s cooking. We also took home a strawberry Agua Fresca and YUM. Can’t wait to try the other flavors. We will definitely be back and this is our new go-to Mexican for our neighborhood.

Food is very good. The horchata tastes authentic. The family running the place is really nice and humble. This is now my go-to spot for tacos. The caramelized onions that come with the tacos are amazing! Prices can’t be beat
