Food was delicious. Highlights were the octopus, steak tartar, bone marrow & beef tongue, branzino, the foie gras medallion, and crème brûlée.
Service was outstanding! Everyone was friendly, prompt, and such a pleasure.
I’m very glad to have dined here. We got to dine in the outdoor igloo which was decked out with a heater, mini fire place, and thick blankets. Everything was tastefully done.

Absolutely romantic experience here. Had a dinner for two, for a 4 course meal. I brought my own wine bottle. The waiters bought out the food at the perfect time and never interrupted the conversation. Just spot on serve. The food was amazing as well. The chef was not in but the quality remains. Lots of parking outside on the small strip.

Matisse 167 is truly a gem in Rutherford.
From the moment you walk in, the entire space feels magical — the colors, the details, the ambiance… everything is beautifully curated. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming.

The tasting menu was outstanding. Every dish was thoughtful, flavorful, and plated like a piece of art. You can tell the chef puts intention behind every course. The igloo dining experience was the cherry on top — cozy, romantic, and perfect for the holiday season.

I’ve dined at so many restaurants across New Jersey and NYC, and Matisse 167 easily stands out as one of the most memorable. If you want a special night out, this is the place.

Service was great. But almost too much, for me at least. Food was great. I was by myself. For my 4-course dinner and 2 cups of espresso, bill came to $177.00 – doesn’t include alcohol, luckily it’s BYOB. There was also a $30 up charge for the filet mignon special. I had the bone marrow, steak tartar; filet mignon special and the peanut butter bomb dessert (this was awesome, I highly recommend this dessert).

Review: Chef-Curated 4-Course Dining Experience.

The ambiance, the dining room, the patio is so freaking beautiful

I had an amazing time enjoying a beautifully crafted chef-curated 4-course meal. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, presented with care, and full of rich, balanced flavors that complemented one another perfectly.

Savory First Course:
The Roasted Candied Beet Carpaccio was both stunning and delicious — a perfect blend of earthy and sweet. The Seared Octopus was tender and expertly cooked, with a wonderful char that added depth to every bite.

Savory Second Course:
The Jumbo Lump Crab Cake was a highlight — packed with fresh crab, crisp on the outside, and moist on the inside. Every forkful tasted like pure indulgence.

Savory Third Course:
The Cavatelli Pasta was comforting and flavorful, with a perfect al dente texture. The Pan-Seared Branzino was delicate and flaky, served with a balance of flavors that felt both light and satisfying.

Dessert Course:
To end the night, the Cheesecake, Crème Brûlée, and Banana Peanut Butter Bomb offered the perfect trio of sweetness. Each dessert stood out on its own, but together, they created a truly decadent finale.

Overall, this experience was a perfect blend of creativity, flavor, and presentation. Every dish felt like a story — one that showcased the chef’s skill and passion for fine dining. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an elevated, memorable culinary experience!

A meal at Matisse 167 feels like stepping into a work of art. From the moment you walk in, the space is absolutely stunning, each room has its own vibe, from the romantic Jewel Box dining area to the Moroccan-inspired front room. The attention to detail in the decor is matched by the creativity on the plate. Chef Greg Power’s dishes are thoughtful, seasonal, and full of unexpected flavor combinations that somehow just work. It’s BYOB, which I loved we brought our favorite wine and enjoyed a perfectly paced prix-fixe menu. The whole experience felt special and intimate. Can’t wait to go back. The service was also amazing!

The absolute best restaurant ever! We try to go once a year. The chef is amazing & so nice. Keith is always amazing as well.

We love that they change up their menu. My husband got the octopus & I don’t even like octopus and it was the best thing I’ve ever had! The scallops were also amazing. The duck was perfect & so was the wagyu special. Everything here is so amazing, you can’t go wrong.

We tell everyone about this place & end your night with a hazelnut latte.

This is such a hidden gem & we are never disappointed. First time we got to sit outside & it was so special. Keep up the amazing work!

Celebrated International Women’s Day with an unforgettable dinner at Matisse 167 — truly one of the best dining experiences in Rutherford. The atmosphere is gorgeous, intimate, and elegant, creating the perfect setting for a special evening.

We started with the Roasted Candy Beet Carpaccio, which was beautifully plated and perfectly balanced with earthy sweetness. The Crabcake was crisp on the outside, tender inside, and packed with fresh flavor. The Cavatelli pasta was comforting yet refined, cooked perfectly and rich without being heavy. To finish, the Caramel Cheesecake was decadent and absolutely delicious — the perfect sweet ending.

A special thank you to Keith for his exceptional service — attentive, welcoming, and truly professional. His hospitality made the entire dining experience even more memorable.

Highly recommend for a date night, celebration, or anyone looking for an elegant and unique dining experience.

Went to Matisse for the first time to celebrate a 15 year anniversary. A restaurant experience like no other. The service was attentive, particularly from our waiter, Adrian, who was very knowledgeable about the menu. He went over with us on how to enjoy your meal courses and checked in on us regularly, as well as the rest of the wonderful staff. Adrian is the best ( ), and carries a sense of humor that really adds to a memorable experience. It was an absolute pleasure to be served by him. The chef and owner Greg Power is also attentive, introducing himself, asking if we were enjoying everything and having a wonderful time. Without a doubt, we were. The dishes prepared by Greg were artistically, beautifully, well-presented and absolutely flavorful, showcasing a nice blend of ingredients that I couldn’t have imagined tasting. Overall, the atmosphere was very comfortable and you can’t help but really appreciate the set up. The interior as well as the exterior decor is gorgeous. Our first time was enjoying the aesthetic while dining in. We do plan to come again and enjoy dining in the restaurant’s beautiful garden. I highly recommend, especially for a romantic evening with a loved one.
