Baby Bull is our take on classic American counter service, built with the belief that simple food deserves real care. We opened our doors in West Asheville as the smaller, casual sibling to Bull & Beggar, but we have developed a personality all our own a relaxed space where a great burger, a cold drink, and a sunny patio can make your whole day better. Our menu is intentionally small so we can give every dish the attention it deserves. That focus allows us to cook with consistency, source high quality ingredients, and make everything we serve feel like more than just fast food. We are counter service by design, but we are guided by the spirit of hospitality.

Understated counter-service joint with a terrace crafting hefty burgers & other fast-food.

Driving up to this place you might think you’re going to end up at an abandoned warehouse with nowhere to turn around. Or that there are documentaries in these streets yet to be realized. But just over a railroad track with the smallest of signs lies Baby Bull. It’s got a short and simple menu but I’d think nearly anyone would find something to eat here. It’s order-at-the-counter (with a very friendly and helpful order taker) and then there’s booth or bar-with-a-view seating. The cheeseburger comes with American cheese, house pickles, Duke’s mayo, and caramelized onions on a potato bun. It can be cooked medium rare (which they call “classic”) or well done (which they call “smashed”) and I asked for our order taker’s favorite. You know I love a good smash burger but her pick was classic and I went with it. Undoubtedly a great choice although I won’t know until next time whether I would’ve liked the smashed just as much. The burger is simple and looks small but it’s packed with mighty flavor. Like a toddler that could beat you up. I didn’t leave hungry either. I wouldn’t call it medium rare but it’s definitely got some pink in the middle and is juicy enough. The potato bun is a nice touch. I’m giving this burger an A on flavor though it might teeter toward an A- just because it doesn’t have the wow factor flavor that I’d hope for in an A. But they’ve done a lot of things right here, including perfectly cooking their simple fries and serving up great tea. Cheers to the Baby Bull for serving up a simple “classic” burger where you’d have to be headed in order to get there.

This burger spot in Asheville kept coming up online when we were looking for spots in Asheville so we took the family. You order at counter and then they bring you food, it’s a great spot to bring family and sit inside or out if it’s nice out.

The double cheeseburger was amazing, the meat was cooked medium rare and topped with caramelized onions & dukes mayo. One of the best burgers I have had in a long time. The French Dip was also really good, and the horseradish mayo wasn’t too strong. Great visit and would highly recommend!

Super nice staff. Guy at the front walked me through everything and was really helpful. On his rec, I went with the French dip— which I don’t think I’ve ever ordered anywhere? But I’m so glad I trusted him! Absolutely delicious! Fries were incredible also. Definitely want to try the burger next time, they clearly know what they’re doing! The space inside had plenty of seating, and plenty of parking outside too.

First time at babybull. Been living in Asheville for almost 2 years and still discovering places since Helene. What drew me to this place was the lobster roll. I was so excited to try it. The area is lovely has kind of a diner vibe and tons of seating inside and outside. You walk up and order at the counter. The menu is small but no issues there. Now I was about to order the lobster roll when I saw it was $36…please excuse me but 36 for frozen lobster is absolutely obscene. I couldnt justify it. So I ordered a double cheeseburger 12.95, hush puppies 5.95 and a malted milk shake 5.95. So for one person its def not cheap by any means. Another issue i had was what I would call a mini shake. Youre only getting 14oz ive never seen a shake that small….delicious dont get me wrong. But come on for almost $6 give your customers a 16oz you’re paying more for the smaller cup the hush puppies were steaming hot and delicious. They were a savory corn bread with powdered sugar on top and maple bacon butter on the side. Absolutely mouth watering. I ordered a medium rare burger but it came out medium well. Which to be honest was fine with me. I dont even know why I ordered rare. It had a very interesting flavor which I believe was their aoili. didnt hate it but I didnt love it either. Everything else was great. The problem i have is the lack of service. You are charging people top dollar to order their own food and have signs telling customers to bus their own tables. Its too much and very in keeping with every over priced asheville restaurant. Im sorry but the atmosphere isnt enough to justify these prices in 2025 do better for your customers.

This place was disappointing. I had the roast pork sandwich “Philly style”. Nothing could be further from the truth :/ For the record, below is a photo of what an actual Philly style roast pork sandwich consists of.

The sandwich at Baby Bull had zero broccoli rabe on it, and no discernible cheese. It was basically an oversized Arby’s roast beef sandwich, flattened like a panini, and with a lot of garlic spread on it. In fairness it was flavorful but this felt like a real case of false advertising.

Highly recommended burger spot by the concierge at the Renaissance Hotel! It’s comparable to other gourmet burger spots – think Grindburger, Shake Shack, etc. – but with a more local feel and better service and quality.

Food was good but insanely over priced. Paid $60 for a lobster roll, burger, fries, and a soda. They do the lobster roll cold (not sure if that’s a thing here). Burger was good but was super soggy when doing take out.

Finally we got to Baby Bull and it did not disappoint! This has been on our list for a while and we were both craving a burger. I’m not a huge burger person, but oh my gosh, I have been craving this smash burger almost nightly since I had it! We read reviews to order it as is, so we followed that suggestion and it was 10/10! Seriously mouth wateringly delicious. The fries came with a really good garlic aioli and the hush puppies were homemade goodness. The patio is dog friendly. It’s counter service and then you take your number to a table. We will for sure be back! Also super affordable.

We loved our most recent visit for dinner at Baby Bull. The menu is simple and perfect. All items are order worthy. The food is ordered at a counter and brought to you in a very timely manner. The love of my life and I both got a double cheeseburger, as is. Hers were smashed, mine was not – I had it cooked medium. Side of fries and hush puppies. Perfect meal! The burgers are so good. Do yourself a favor and don’t make changes, order a double as is. You’ll love it. We sat outside since baby puppy was with us. Great vibes outside. Such a great place for a bite. Enjoy all!

I usually don’t enjoy burgers. Theyre often poorly seasoned and taste like plain ol ground beef. But then I tried Baby Bull and now I am actively craving burgers because of them. Only their burgers though. Super flavorful, the fries always feel fresh, and the garlic aioli they give you is god tier. I will honestly never eat another burger again that isn’t Baby Bull’s. The staff is always super nice too. All around great experience every time I go.
