There are a lot of fine dining restaurants in Richmond and this one unfortunately is not a stand out. We had the bread and butter (fine but nothing special), the cauliflower app (pretty good), the short rib in a curry sauce with rice and kimchi (good but I felt like I could make the same thing at home very easily) and the duck special which was probably the worst duck I’ve had in a while. The dessert was delicious!! Our server was amazing! Drinks were fine.

Kudos to Chef Joe and the team for a truly unique experience that you’d expect to get in NYC or DC, not in Richmond.

I brought my wife for the 4 course tasting menu for her birthday. The food was fresh, creative and most important of all, delicious. I appreciated they were able to accommodate a vegetarian tasting menu that was still filling and satisfying. I really enjoyed the intentionality of Chef Joe coming out and explaining each dish to us. While this is clearly a high end place, the food is approachable and delicious. You can feel the passion and love in it! Front of house was great and the overall experience was just awesome. My wife said it felt like she was having dinner in an art gallery! We will absolutely be back.

This place is brilliant addition to the Richmond food scene! We had dinner on a Saturday, taking advantage of the weekend happy hour. We had all 4 of the HH small plates, doubling up on the duck dumplings. The main course, braised short rib, was an absolute flavor bomb – wow. Everything was delicious, with more highly developed flavors and textures than typically found in RVA restaurants. Service was great but the decor was disappointing. Our biggest complaint is the annoying lighting – overhead spotlights should be reserved for jewelry stores. We returned for my birthday, this time we also tried the salmon (succulent) and the Bourbon Chocolate Chess Pie was amazing. I noted that the spotlights were toned down a bit, much appreciated!

Really fantastic duck breast! Great texture as well. Beef tartar was tasty, as was the she crab soup. The butter for the bread was so light and fluffy, I think it was my second favorite dish of the evening. The Parisian gnocchi was a bit dry however, and the drinks were okay. Service was very efficient and the atmosphere was quiet and intimate, which was lovely. Street parking nearby was easy.

Went in for the first time on this warm Tuesday evening and was immediately greeted with brisk a/c and a helpful host.

We made our way to the bar for libations and light bites. The happy hour snacks were perfect appeTEASERs. I mean this in a good way. We had the arancini (2pcs) and the duck dumplings (2pc). Both dishes were packed with flavor. Perfectly crisp arancini over a wildly interesting strawberry gochujang sauce, 10/10. The duck dumplings were delicate and savory; the duck broth complemented swimmingly without stealing the show. 10/10. Both dishes jump started our palates. (No time for pictures)

For entrees we decided on the crispy duck leg and the seafood pasta. My partner and I have been craving duck ever since the closing of the oyster society in Petersburg. This dish was not a miss. Nice crunch even after being topped with the tomato pan sauce. The brioche was incredibly intuitive in this plate: I used it to sponge up all of the drippings. 10/10

Seafood Pasta: 5 nice sized pieces of shrimp accompanied by hand pulled crab in a creamy miso sauce. The fettuccine was cooked well, carrying the sauce tightly. Then surprise, there was corn! Awesome, 10/10, will do again.

She needed a box, I needed a nap.

We were gifted a beignet with maple ice cream and a chicken skin topper. Salty, sweet, crunchy. Holy smokes! Something to write home about.

Needless to say this will be a regular spot of ours.

Great service, very cool atmosphere, a staff that just “gets it”.

Parking can be a drag but we learned there’s a deck a block away. We probably should have walked this meal off anyway.

Stopped in here waiting to meet a friend. Sat at the bar. Only had cocktails and appetizers but the bartender, Pierro, and the manager, Jenny, were wonderful.

Steak tartare and duck dumplings were delicious. The cocktail, the Lombardy was one of the better cocktails I’ve had in a while.

Atmosphere was great. Lighting and music were appropriate. It was quiet when I got there but was picking up when I was leaving.

Wish I’d taken more pictures and had more
time to try more, but so will be back.

Parked on the street a block or so away.

For the price, this is not worth it

Our “fresh” bread came out hot in the inside, cold as a fridge on the inside. Obviously made fresh but reheated. When we pointed this out they reheated it again and did not comp it, after our main meal had come out.

The water was warm, I assume because it’s tap because it’s so hot out. Maybe consider a separate fridge for the water carafes.

The decor is… off putting. There is no soul and barely and decor to say is even there. There is a reason all the aesthetic pictures are in the dark.

The other food was good, and the service super friendly.

All in all it’s close to being good but not quite there, especially for nice dining prices. I would not come back until they improve the above

Definitely the best restaurant in town right now. I’m not sure when Trouvaille arrived, but I sincerely hope it’s here to stay. Richmond has plenty of great dining options, but this restaurant proves there’s always room for improvement and fresh ideas.

The cozy decor creates a private and quiet atmosphere, perfect for a romantic dinner or an intimate gathering with close friends. Interestingly, it reminded me of DOM, a two-Michelin-star restaurant in São Paulo, Brazil.

Speaking of Michelin, Trouvaille should have at least started in the Bib Gourmand category, if not with a well-deserved one star.

The menu is concise, with every dish prepared with incredible attention to detail and flavor. From the tableware to the presentation, the plates are a feast for the eyes before delighting the palate. The prices are fair for such a refined and thoughtful experience, and the highlight is the She Crab Soup, which outshines the one at Blue in Virginia Beach.

Kudos to the team! Highly recommended!

One of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. I had the duck- outstanding. My husband had the 48 hour short rib- also outstanding. Definitely will come back for another date night, thoroughly enjoyed our experience.

Trouvaille is a must-visit for burger lovers! Everything is made in-house, the burger was incredible, juicy, and full of rich flavor. The house-made bun was soft yet sturdy, holding everything together beautifully, and the cheese melted just right over. The fries were crispy, golden, and seasoned to perfection

The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was excellent. If you’re looking for a spot that takes quality seriously, Trouvaille is the place to go.

Also I had the candy bar for dessert, omg it’s so good, get it. Just get it, this was our first time here and we will be coming back.
