It’s Friday night so we were prepared for a lengthy wait(no big deal). To our pleasant surprise, we were able to sit at the bar!
Abby, the bartender was super attentive and pleasant. You know how sometimes when you sit at the bar service is hit or miss? Nope, not here….you actually forget that you’re sitting at the bar & not a table. That’s how spectacular our service was.
Food: for appetizers we got the truffle fries, southern Maryland stuffed oysters & an order of the meatballs. For entrees, my husband ordered the spaghetti & meatballs. I got the seared scallops with risotto. For dessert we got the cannoli’s.
EVERYTHING was absolutely devine. The oysters were perfectly balanced, without the crab dip being overbearing & overpowering the oysters. The risotto was velvety & scallops were perfectly seared! The meatballs that accompanied the spaghetti were HUGE!!!! The cannoli was fresh & delicious. We definitely can’t wait to return. Thank you Ruccis for bringing a true gem to St. Mary’s County
Red sauce- Legit.
Doughboys- Light and fresh.
Pesto- Fresher than your last confession.
I come in town for work about once a month. I saw this place just opened and wanted to try it. It was absolutely horrible. I served in restaurants for years and it is exceptionally rare that I feel the need to leave a review.
I’ll caveat this with the fact that the server was in the weeds and her manager should have been right there helping her since she easily had 8 or more tables and about 10 people at the bar. She needs more training as well, but I blame the management for most of this.
I sat at the bar, which was a mess with multiple piles of dishes, cups, napkins, and full of people with empty drinks while waiting on something. I figured it would get cleaned shortly, especially after sitting down. I am puzzled at how the hostesses are not helping to clean tables or the bar since many of the tables and bar spots are a mess after customers left. I ask one of the hostesses if there is a server behind the bar, and am told there was, but she also had a very large section, so she was very busy and service might be slow. About 15 minutes after sitting next to the pile of a half-eaten meal, multiple plates and cups, and napkins on the bar, the manager comes to pick up some of it. Then he leaves the rest. He never even notices that I don’t have a drink or anything else in front of me except for a menu I had to get for myself. He didn’t bother to ask if I could be helped or better yet, if the bartender/server needed anything. Not until about 5 minutes after that did the bartender ask me what I wanted to drink. I also got the bowl of cream of crab soup. It was the worst I’ve ever had and I don’t mean any exaggeration by that. Absolutely disgusting. It maybe had 4 small pieces of crab floating on top. Other than that, the soup was just an overly greasy, disgusting cream. It had visible grease on top and was almost starting to curdle as the cream and grease separated. I should have taken a picture, but after only being able to muscle down about 1/4 of the bowl, I couldn’t take it anymore and asked for the check with my barely touched greasy bowl of soup in front of me. Of course, no one noticed that was odd and mentioned anything about the largely still intact bowl of “soup”.
Save yourself the waste of time and money and go to T&Js Cove or SweetBay over this place.
