My Thai: Little Bangkok – Grand Rapids Magazine

Maybe it’s just a me thing. On that note, I’ve been on a quest to find the perfect Pad Thai since moving back to Michigan over a decade ago.

I drove past today and had both pleasant and unpleasant memories. The food has been pleasant. The last time we ate here, however, we were charged a fee beyond the prices listed in the menu. We asked for it to be removed as we hadn’t seen it mentioned anywhere. The waitress refused and said it was to cover rising costs. We tried to look on the menu and we did look at the door where we saw no fee listed. Hopefully this has changed since. When it does, we may return as we enjoy Thai food.

Probably the best Thai restaurant in Grand Rapids. The food is consistently excellent. My advice: get the Gang Kwe Wan with beef. Might be the single best plate of food in the city

We visited at 5:00pm Sat, Feb 7. While the food was satisfactory, the service left me disturbed. From the moment we were greeted by our server, she left us with the impression that she could hardly wait for us to leave. We had two rounds of appetizers before our entree. She visited us several times during appetizers to ask us to order entrees. I initially assumed she was simply trying to be thorough. I later realized that she simply wanted us to leave. All three of us were still eating our dinners when she asked us how many to go boxes we wanted — while waving the guest check at us. We needed more napkins and it took three requests to get them. We had to have the manager refill our drinks. By the time she had offered us to go boxes while we were still eating, I had decided that the tip would be smaller. We were there 2 hours and I normally leave a good tip to compensate, but I struggled to justify the 16% tip that I left. She was clearly offended and never returned to our table even though we were still eating when she asked me to pay. I have never felt so unwelcome in a full-service restaurant. I see no need to return. Frankly, the girl seems to prefer us not being there so she will probably be overjoyed. Very unhappy.

Thai is one of our favorite cuisine. This place is nicely renovated after the fire accident. Portions are generous and price is reasonable. The only problem i have is the flavor and spice level differing each time we visit. It is either hit or miss, lacks consistency. Fried rice was the most greasy of all. Soup is kind of standard in flavor. Also the chicken sate is a must.

6/19/2019 – one more visit and this time it was a hit !! Loved both green curries & fried rice. Soup tastes the best.

I really enjoyed the food at this place! The fresh rolls were indeed refreshing and came with a delicious crunchy peanut sauce. My friend loves the pad Thai, and I got the drunken noodles which I really enjoyed – the sauce is slightly sweet, savory and tangy. Great service too. Would definitely come back!

✅ Free, easy, and convenient parking ️ (strip mall)
✅ Reasonably priced food
✅ Good portion sizes
✅ Good customer service. Our server was a teenage guy who has only been working there for 2 days but was striving to do a good job.
✅ The food was prepared and served quickly
The appetizers came out at the same time as the food and the crab wontons were cold. I asked for them to be remade and they did it without a problem.
The texture and taste of the chicken in my Kow pad dish was weird. I wouldn’t order a dish with chicken again.

At the time of posting, we (party of two) dined here once on June 6, 2024 around 6:30 pm.

This place is always solid for Thai food. I will normally get a curry of some sort and fresh rolls and a Thai milk tea. Inside can be a bit crowded at times, especially lunch time. That really only speaks to how good the food is though. Highly recommend

Claims they’re open for lunch until 3pm, walked in at 2:12pm knew exactly what we were going to order, refused to seat or serve us even tho couple other patrons seated and waiting for food.

When a business closes for an hour to prepare the exact same food for dinner, they should honor and serve their clients until the times they set for service.

That’s too bad, I was really looking forward to Thai food for lunch before heading to work. Settled for Jets Pizza next door which turned out amazing.

My family and I really enjoyed the meal, and the wait staff was very friendly. We ordered various items on the menu, and everything turned out to be good. I ordered Pad Thai at medium heat, and I found it to be relatively mild for Thai food.
