When you want to go big and everything has to be deluxe, but your wallet tells you all you can get is a bag of peanuts…where do you go?
Peanuts Deluxe Café! No shit..that’s what the cab driver told me when I asked for his recommendation on a nice breakfast place! Then he tells me it doesn’t matter that it was clear across town from where I was staying, you just got to go, because the Peanuts Deluxe Café covers all the bases! Then he tells me what to order! He said “Look here’s the deal..You’re new in town and I can you’re as fresh as a Pilgrim that just landed..So go in there and say this to the gal…Hash Browns cooked all the way with 3 up and bacon that hasn’t been burnt, and gimme a cup of coffee, coffee that hasn’t been sitting in the pot since 4 am okay.
Then he tells me to look her straight in the eye and say.. I’m a big tipper, just ask that cab driver right there!
Well, that cabbie was almost all the way right, the food was amazingly delicious, and cooked perfectly, and I did tip big ..bigger than I did the cabbie. Peanuts Deluxe is ☆☆☆☆☆

Excellent food, was not expecting such deliciousness. Had the Korean fried chicken and not only was it great, but the rice was perfect. Fantastic spot and great people working it. Friend had the meat lover’s omelet and it delivered – the potatoes were cooked to perfection.

The place has definitely had a nice facelift and feels refreshed. The food was fine overall, and I’d be open to coming back to try something different on the menu. That said, I probably wouldn’t go out of my way for breakfast again, though they clearly have a loyal and steady customer base.

Tasty coffee, good cooked grilled chicken sandwich was awesome, service was little slow. Good for students, adequate space available and books to read. Staff was friendly.

Wow, Peanuts Deluxe Cafe is a must-visit in San Jose! From the moment I ordered, the experience was seamless. But the real star is the food: every bite was clean, fresh, and bursting with flavor. The presentation was also impeccable, showing true care in every dish. I literally cleaned my plate because it was that good! Honestly, this is the best food I’ve had in San Jose, and I have absolutely zero complaints. This place deserves to have 5 stars!

I had a very well made chiliquiles and my wife had a perfect egg over medium for breakfast. We love the new Peanuts with the couches and happy hour! It’s no longer the greasy spoon it was for the 3 decades I taught at SJSU. But the prices haven’t risen and they’re still very reasonable despite the uptick in the cuisine.

Cute little diner. I am admittedly biased in my review because I was seriously craving diner food. I cannot be biased however in noting they had a %20 discount for the month of October, and at least at the time they had some options on their menu below $10. The atmosphere is cozy, but not claustrophobic, and the staff were really nice and personable, though very busy despite there not being too many people in at the time I went.

I was staying in the area for work and looking for a great big breakfast to get me through the day. Spotted the Mexican omelet on their menu online and decided to come in and try it. It was *perfect.* It tasted very fresh and all the flavors were perfectly balanced. Looked great too! This is my breakfast spot in San Jose from now on.

Pretty good spot for a quick brunch or lunch. There’s a good selection of breakfast items, sandwiches, and burgers with decent portions and reasonable prices. Service is friendly and the restaurant has a chill atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out.

My partner and I came across Peanuts during a visit from Australia. The cafe was under new ownership and in transition to its official relaunch on October 6 2025. The menu was unchanged and good value. We liked ordering at the counter and “bussing” afterwards; more like we are used to in Australia. Good luck to the new owners.
