Eating out is something that has to be in the budget anymore. We are a family of four and we were super excited about new place in town, as most people know all we have around here is Mexican cuisine and bars. All the photos look amazing online and their specials seem reasonable. With that being said, this was by far the worst. We ordered 3 New York Strip dinners and the special which was a garlic Parmesan steak sandwich. 125 dollars later and we left upset. We never said a word, simply asked for a to go box, paid our bill and left.
Steak dinners were cold to the touch, the sandwich was cold and well pretty much everything was cold. If you have ever seen the movie “Waiting” you know to never send back a steak dinner. The steaks tasted like they had been in a roaster all day, which would make sense since the special was a steak sandwich. The fried pickles however were very good, those were hot to the touch. The service wasn’t horrible, the waitress was super nice. It felt cold and lonely though. I did take pictures and well it all looks pretty good, but pictures can be deceiving. If you’re looking to spend a night out with the family, this is not the place you should go but then again maybe it was an off night. First impression leaves a lasting mark. Enter at your own risk.

Several locals in Valparaiso recommended that we have dinner at Brainard Bar (now Onyx Social). We ended up meeting Amber, the really cool owner, and we got a peanut butter burger as well as a buffalo chicken pizza. Everything was super delicious. My boyfriend and I are hiking cross country, and we actually slept in the park across the street that night (with permission). The next morning, Amber even offered to make us coffee before we left. Wow. Super friendly, great service and great food. Amber also gave us a recommendation to go to The Wetlands Bar once we arrived in Rising City. Thanks for having us! You’re awesome.

This place is straight fire their burgers are the first bar burgers Ive had in A WHILE that were not burnt. They were cooked to perfection. The price is good for teenagers to just stop by and get a candy or something. They have a little area where snacks are, this is the best part. And Mahi Mahi at a bar? Applause
