We popped into Main Street Diner on a recommendation, and wow — it was by far one of the best diners we’ve ever eaten at.
They have an incredible Greek-inspired menu, and everything we tried was outstanding. I ordered the Santorini Shawarma Stack featuring a shawarma-spiced lamb burger with sweet pickled onions, the diner’s tabouli, Greek yogurt tzatziki, house-made hummus, dill pickles, crisp leaf lettuce, and a sweet & savoury Middle Eastern chutney on a locally baked bun — paired with the Greek salad. Absolutely phenomenal.
My mom had the fish sandwich with a side of buffalo fries, and we also shared the buffalo chicken fries — everything was really, really good.
Huge shoutout to Lawrence, our waiter, and Eryn, our server — both were incredibly kind, attentive, and welcoming. Eryn never stopped checking on us, kept our waters filled, and had the best smile. Lawrence even made us a hot chocolate with whipped cream, which was hands down the best hot chocolate in town.
The service is excellent, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and this is one of the best places to stop in while visiting Nelson. Noon to 12:30 is a perfect time to go — it does get busy during the lunch rush, but it is 100% worth the wait.
There are lots of great menu options, and we will definitely be back. One of my favorite spots in Nelson!

Came here after reading many reviews (good or bad). Would not recommend for parties of more than two. Only five tables seating 3 or 4. You might end up waiting for at least half an hour or longer.
Fish chips with halibut were decent, but that’s it. We ordered two pieces, upgrade with Greek salad (greasy) and fries. Clam chowder manhattan style was very different, my daughter did not like it initially but opened up to it after being encouraged to try. Less cream and more veggies, which was good for you.
The cocktail drink was tasty.
We were very disappointed by the non-existent service. For a diner, you normally expect a cozy, warm, fuzzy kind of service, this one doesn’t not fit it at all!

After a long trip from overseas, I had my first proper meal in Canada here. I had a slight craving for Greek food and so ordered the lamb burger, which was close enough. Other times I have had lamb burgers or the like, they tended to be dry. The burger here, though, was perfect. Juicy and delicious with a nice dollop of tzatziki. My companion’s fish and chips also looked fantastic. The food was simple and nicely done – and the server was very friendly. A great meal for a tired traveler.

This is by no doubt the best place to eat when in Nelson. The staff is Amazing and the food is so delicious. After eating dinner we had to find out who was the chef only to discover he is also the owner of the restaurant. The menu is diverse and we wish we were staying longer to try a few more things. The taste of the dishes are all unique. We have eaten at many restaurants and we can clearly taste this is not just the regular.

The food was excellent. You could tell the chef is a pro — even the simple things like the cabbage salad were done really well. The lamb burger was one of the best I’ve had, full of flavor and cooked just right. Staff were always around, helpful and polite without being too much. Definitely recommend it. This place knows what it’s doing.

How do I give this place more stars The food was out of this world. We ordered cheeseburger and the burger had so much flavor! I ordered fries and she had salad. The salad was so great! I want to try more things here! If you happen to stop in when the 7ft tall movie star guy is working he is the best!

Dinner was amazing, loved the made in house fries and fish n chips. Service was exceptional and friendly. The patio is very inviting, but found the atmosphere inside lacking without decor. All in all 5 star review, I’d definitely come back 🙂

The food was really good. I enjoyed the Mushroom Deluxe Burger, mushrooms were really large which was a first but they tasted great and it was easy to eat the ones that fell out. The Diner salad was good but so were the fries.
Definitely get patio seating which was nice as the inside was a bit musty smelling. The bathrooms were very clean and spacious.
