Haraz Coffeehouse

In Yemen, the word Haraz is almost always associated with the Haraz Mountains and the renowned coffee grown there. So it felt perfectly fitting to discover a coffee house carrying the name Haraz.
The setting at Haraz Coffee House is tranquil, with large windows and a soft beige color scheme accented by warm wood. The barista was patient and gracious as I looked over the menu and asked questions, even seeming genuinely enthusiastic when I inquired about the meaning of “Haraz.”
I eventually ordered a Turkish coffee—my second favorite coffee drink after the cortado. It arrived on a beautiful copper tray, served in a matching cezve (long-handled pot) with a small duncan cup traditionally used for Turkish coffee. The presentation was elegant, perfectly complementing the atmosphere of the space.
As I slowly sipped the thick, bold flavors of the Turkish coffee, I let my thoughts drift over the past year of my life and quietly praised God for the blessings it has held.
Enjoying life one cortado at a time!
I had the opportunity to try the pistachio latte, which was rich and creamy with just a hint of spice—well-balanced and not overwhelming. The Bee Bites, featuring light bread drizzled with honey, also served as a delightful treat that paired beautifully with the bold flavors of the pistachio latte. There were also several other desserts on display, and I am looking forward to returning to explore them further.
Update: July 20, 2025
During our recent visit, we tried some of their impressive treats and highly recommend them. The Strawberry Matcha Latte was a surprisingly delicious combination, creating a refreshing and flavorful beverage. The Salted Caramel Latte showcased the perfect balance of subtle sweetness and saltiness, crafted with espresso. The Pistachio Cheesecake was rich and creamy, elevated by a luscious pistachio cream. The White Chocolate Mosaic Cake was a delightful sweet treat, featuring a dense, pudding-like texture that paired beautifully with any latte.
I tried the Bee Bites along with the coconut matcha and white chocolate, and everything was delicious. The Bee Bites were sweet, well-balanced, and clearly made with care. Matcha was smooth and flavorful, not overly sweet.
Service:
Service was good overall and efficient. The person helping me wasn’t particularly friendly, but it didn’t come across as rude, more like he might have been tired. Everything still came out promptly.
Atmosphere:
The white, bright ambience really stood out. The space felt lively and clean, with a modern vibe that made it a nice place to sit and enjoy dessert.
Overall, great food and a fun atmosphere. I’d definitely come back, especially for the desserts.
This was my first time at Haraz, and it definitely won’t be my last. I was immediately impressed by the space. The decor and overall vibe are beautiful, very spacious, and almost zen-like. There are plenty of tables and booths, many with easily accessible outlets, which is perfect if you’re working or charging devices.
The service was quick and incredibly accommodating. I usually order cold brew, but I was curious about their saffron latte. The gentleman at the register kindly let me try the saffron flavor with my cold brew, which I really appreciated. I was also new to many of their pastries, and he was more than happy to answer all my questions. Needless to say, I left with three desserts to go .
They offer a great selection of Middle Eastern pastries and baked goods. The kunafa was excellent and paired perfectly with the saffron cold brew. It had a great crunch from the kataifi, a generous layer of cheese, and just the right amount of sweetness without being overwhelming. I also tried the Biscoff cheesecake, which was incredibly creamy and delicious. Highly recommend it.
The only thing I would say to consider is that parking might be a bit tight and difficult, as the parking lot outside is smaller and is shared by many other businesses. I came in the mid afternoon during a Tuesday. So this can be affected by the time of day you decide to come. I lucked out being able to find a parking spot right out the front door, but it was one of the few.
Overall, I would highly recommend checking this place out as a hang out spot and even for a place to do some remote work.
