At our Knoxville, TN location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

We ate here again to give a better review. The food was hot this time but the chicken is slimy like. Its not the same as Middlesboro ky. Restaurant chicken. The floors still sticky, drink machine has limited drinks due to not working. The lady that seemed like the manager is rude, focused on the family she has eating,their deals (if you get my point). Anyway, unless my friend wnts to go back, I wnt be going back here.

Crunchy shrimp – It’s all crunchy coating. Small shrimp are flattened out and tasteless. You would not even know it’s shrimp. Service was fast and courteous. Sides are good.

Fish was very tasty. The staff in the restaurant was very courteous, and very pleasant. Restrooms did need a bit of attention, they weren’t dirty, but they weren’t clean either l. All in all, the food was good, and people nice. I will definitely return.

I don’t know what happen but I bought a 4 piece….NASTY DISGUSTING…the fish tasted like it swam in some old grease mixed with chicken and whatever the heck was in there. The fries well look at the picture…pale and nasty…the hush puppies not even going to describe…I NEVER have had a bad experience with Captain D’s I have been coming to this one since I was a kid…I moved to Fl a few years back so my first place to stop when I come back is Captain D’s…I am going to try another location I am just hoping it was a one time thing…if not never coming back.

I paid extra for one piece of catfish it was worth the receipt sorry was it in the bag The Price is Right there tell them the right price for that little piece of catfish I was charged $3.99 for one piece of catfish that was added to my order it was so tiny not worth the money don’t even waste your time ordering catfish at this restaurant it’s not worth it please don’t waste your time one side is the regular fish that you get better dip the other is the catfish

Service was great. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food quality was quite good, though the catfish serving was EXTREMELY small. Batter dipped pollock was pleasing as were the side items. Happenstance meeting of friends we had not seen in decades.
So much for the good points.
The atmosphere was very smokey and greasy as if the exhaust system was not functioning properly. We had been nearby for a doctor appointment and wanted Captain D,s. Had to come home and wash our clothes and ourselves to remove the odor.

Don’t order online through the app. This location was out of chicken and shrimp, but the app allowed us to order anyway. When we got here, they were unwilling to refund or substitute the order and gave us no solution. The app doesn’t have any options to cancel the order, so I guess we will have to dispute the charge on our card. I’m never eating here again.
