Smokey Trotters Kitchen – Hidden Scotland

Formerly a street food favourite around Glasgow, Smokey Trotters now has a permanent home in the East End. The food served here is always tasty.

Food was great, vibe was great, staff were great. The only reason it’s not 5 star is because some of the food was a little too salty for me and the table/space was a wee bit compact where we were seated, I felt a little out in the open but I understand it’s a small place with limited room. The variety and quality was there but the saltiness was a bit overbearing on some of the dishes. The decor with the buckfast bottles was great fun. Staff were super friendly too. The Macaroni Cheese (Mac n Cheese) was absolutely delicious, super cheesy and impressed my girlfriend which is hard to do haha. Also something to mention… THIS PLACE IS BYOB. It’s a £2 charge to bring your own drinks in, I wish I had known about this beforehand though as we couldn’t buy a beer with our food, perhaps this should be advertised/clarified a little more. Overall great experience.

I will note that I have been here before last year and the burgers were fantastic too.

An interesting place with its own twist. Every burger name has a little wink to it, and they taste good. The vibe is chill, the staff are attentive and cool, and everything feels like your favorite hangout spot where even fries are a personality trait. Definitely worth checking out yourself!

First time visiting Smokey Trotters in Saturday and it was fantastic

The food was amazing and the fact it’s B.Y.O.B with a £2 corkage fee is excellent value as well.

It’s definitely a 10/10 for me and ill be back ASAP.

Great choice for comfort food, but avoid at busy times.

We arrived on a Sunday for lunch, and had to wait 20 minutes for our order to be taken, and another 30 for the food to arrive.

Starters were great, I loved the truffle mozzarella sticks. You can tell they’re made in house!

Buffalo Chicken burger was ok. Chicken was perfectly fried, but unfortunately it was not spicy at all. Sauce was very sweet, it had no acidity or kick like buffalo should.

Brunch items were delightful, especially the fried chicken on french toast.

Worth a try.

Must-Go Place! Straight Outta Compton meets Scottish Humor. Very unique and cool vibe. Food was even better than expected! Really good Burgers and the Pulled-Pork-Hoisin Spring Rolls are a must have (good as a shared appetizer!).
If you do sightseeing in this area this is a perfect place to spent lunch! Also nice Coffee and Dessert option. The prices are more than fair for the exceptional good food that you get here!

We sat outside, which was nice, but the only downside was having to pop in to get the waiter’s attention. That said, the staff were really friendly and polite. The Dirty Dipper and Chicken KFC burgers were absolutely delicious, though the vegetarian Korean chickpea patty was unfortunately quite dry. It’s a bit on the expensive side, especially since fries are sold separately.

Loved the place, great food great atmosphere altho we went kinda late, the service was great and the food fast and hot.
The only thing is that we accidentaly walked pass without noticing and when we walked in there was a flickering light, kinda looked like a shady alley, and felt we were about to get jumped, glad we didnt walk back

Smokey Trotters Glasgow — Highly Recommended!
Me and my mate were up from Manchester and had an amazing meal at Smokey Trotters and honestly, I can’t recommend it enough. I went all in with the “Dip in Ma Nuts”, crispy chicken strips with a seriously tasty peanut dip, plus Snobby Fries loaded with truffle, parmesan, and all the good stuff, we shared some mozzarella sticks topped with sriracha honey and a Cheetos crumb. It was absolutely next level.

The food was packed with flavour, the portions were generous, and the whole vibe of the place was spot on. Great tunes playing in the background, super chill atmosphere, and surprisingly reasonable prices for the quality and amount you get.

If you’re in Glasgow and want a proper feast without breaking the bank, you need to check out Smokey Trotters. Already planning my next visit… genuinely!
