Hook & Plow has a great menu that appeals to almost everyone and all the locations have awesome staff and service. The sandwiches and burgers are always popular and their raw bar elevates the menu. The steak sandwich is so tender and flavorful and the burgers are equally delicious. The lobster roll is loaded and super tender.. really good quality. The salads are very popular and can be ordered with yummy salmon that makes for a healthy low carb meal option. They also have lunch combinations which are a great value and don’t forget about happy hour!

We flew in from Australia and headed to manhattan beach.. walked in to super friendly staff with great service and recommendations! Lobster roll and tomahawk were elite staff treated our son amazingly for his 21st. We will be back!

Everything was great overall, but the servers didn’t come back to check if we needed anything after bringing the food, so we had to call them over each time, which was a bit inconvenient.
Also, the salmon in the seafood taco was too dry, so I didn’t enjoy it as much as I hoped.

I didn’t realize there The Hook & Plow had a location in Manhattan Beach! Very nice spot and I like the layout more compared to the Hermosa Beach location. Service was friendly and gave us hot water after our open water swim. They also have a cool seating area out front with a fireplace. Definitely will keep that in mind when fall comes around next. I got their Breakfast Platter and was happy with it. Classic items and well cooked! Good spot along Manhattan Beach to try out if you haven’t before.

They said they were dog friendly, and while they do have a doggie menu and only allow dogs on the outside patio, they do not let the dog drink water on the patio. I had a doggie bowl with me and gave my dog some water, the waiter came over and picked it up and dumped it out. They also didn’t offer the doggie menu. I had to ask for it, nor did they greet my dog. I would say this place isn’t dog friendly, but rather allows dogs on the patio. At places that are truly doggy friendly, they treat the dog differently, offer them treats, even bring them a bowl of water. None of that happened here, so this place is not dog friendly. They simply allow dogs and as a business gesture, offer an over-priced doggie menu if you’d like to get your dog a bite to eat…. Oh and in addition, after we paid, the waiter made it a point to tell us that the table was reserved for 2pm. We were there for lunch and the place was practically empty with more than at least 30 seats available. We found it odd that it was our one table of two that was specifically reserved at exactly 1.5 hours after our reservation time. Just be frank, that’s just called turning the table. You didn’t want us to sit at the table if we weren’t ordering more food. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. The food was good, but the poor service is not worth going there a second time.

The food is way overpriced for the quality. I had the lunch special, arugula salad, burrata sandwich and the salmon tacos.

The tacos were micro tacos and very wet so they fell apart. The same for the burrata sandwich. The bread was toasted but the burrata hadn’t been drained so the bread was a soggy mess.

The salad dressing was lovely but the salad was just arugula and tomatoes. Very sparse

The seafood here rivals FWD. So fresh and delicious. I loved the ceviche in the seafood platter and the clam chowder (smoky, spicy with bits of bacon). Had the steak sandwich and furikake fries which were both perfectly done. Also, the place is beautifully built out. Hello outdoor seating which we need more of in Manhattan Beach. We also were lucky enough to get a fire pit table!

Nice place for a casual dinner. The food was a bit overdone for my taste, but my dining companions enjoyed it. Service was very friendly but they seemed overworked. The best part of our meal for me was desert, so save room.

My new Fav MB spot! I’ve made it my new regular lunch spot for weekday meetings.

After about a dozen visits, I’ve tried most of the menu and was impressed by almost everything. I love ceviche and crab cakes and fries. The clam chowder is so good that my Boston friend insisted on personally thanking the cheff (I guess Bostonians take the chowder seriously…). I also the like lunch boards which allow you try a few items without being overwhelmed by too much food.

The restaurant is new and is perfectly, decorated and designed for an airy and sunny beach vibe.

The front third of the restaurant provides outdoor dining for sunny afternoons, with plenty of heaters to keep away the evening chills.

Great addition to Manhattan beach. We had the seafood platter, prime steak sandwich, striped sea bass and lobster roll. All the food was excellent as was the service. Highly recommend. We need more restaurants with outdoor open air seating.
