We went to Frankie & Johnny’s around Christmas time and ordered the porterhouse for two. It was $165. It was filled with fat, tough, and undercooked. I wanted to be fair, so I called them and told them about it, and they comped me the $165.
I went back yesterday to give them a second chance and ordered a veal chop. I’m going to show you a photo of what came out. My girlfriend ordered the Chilean sea bass. When it came out, it looked like a ShopRite special, and today she’s sick in bed with what seems like food poisoning.
This place might have been good years ago, but right now it’s terrible. They should put themselves on the bench. I’ve tried both locations — this was the 37th Street location. There are much better steakhouses in the city. They should take cooking lessons at Old Homestead or Council Oak, just for starters.
You mess up one time, I’ll give you a second chance. Mess up twice? Shame on me.
The service here was good! They happily accommodated our party with a 3 month old baby , gave us plenty of space, and made us feel welcome. The food was decent, but our porterhouse was a little too close to its past life on the farm—slightly undercooked.
Still, with such friendly staff and a good atmosphere, we left happy.
Would come back, but might bring a meat thermometer next time!
Great steakhouse with excellent service.
Came in for a family anniversary dinner and were very pleased. It’s the kind of place where they do everything well. My steak was perfect.
It’s an expensive steakhouse, but worth it.
High end meal, quality service, cool vibe.
