At first, I almost missed this place since it is not very visible from outside. Once inside, the atmosphere was inviting and nicely decorated. The food was tasty and enjoyable, and the service was pleasant. The only small drawback was the limited business hours, but everything else about this restaurant made for a great experience.

Good Izakaya in North Orange County. They offer the traditional meat/vegetables on a skewer, sushi and sashimi. We came during happy hour (before 6pm) so there were a few things that were “discounted.” Also alcohol was -20% off during happy hour. Overall a good experience at this restaurant.

I tried a spicy hot-pot style Udo with a salmon chazuke, and each part was simply amazing. A meal that felt comforting and full of rich flavor.

One of my beloved spots to bring friends or family with for yakitori, drinks, or quick bites. Wonderful atmosphere and amazing staff and servers. Haven’t been in about a year, but the servers were still kind & friendly. Brought family to this spot and the staff were accommodating & patient with our group.

They have table seatings and tatami mat seatings. They offer yakitori sets and offer a wide selection of cut rolls, hand rolls, nigiri, and sashimi. They also have onigiri! Amazing selection of sake, shochu, chuhai and other drinks.

Highly recommend coming here with friends or even coworkers if you’ve never been. The style of dining is a great and casual way to bond and become even closer.

This place doesn’t compare to Honda-ya in Tustin; I know some reviews state they do, which is why we picked it for our group alternative as a better middle point… but it’s not as good.

Some of the skewers we got didn’t have any flavor, such as the quail egg and chicken heart/gizzards. Some were really good- such as the prime beef. Sushi rolls were kind of a miss. We got some albacore slices that were ok

We sat at on the tatami mats (which is super cool to offer!) but it ended up being sort of uncomfortable for most of our backs- the padding support isn’t that good?

If you check in, you get a $3 beer — which is pretty cool! Service was decent. Ambiance is nice- fun place for big groups, lively but not too loud.

Izakaya Takasei is a delightful spot for those craving a taste of Japan. Sipping on ice-cold beer and savoring the delicious yakitori brought back all the happy memories of my time in Japan.
While the yakitori here leans towards a tender and juicy meaty flavor, it’s quite unique and special in its own way.

Came here with my friends today and was very impressed with the atmosphere and ambiance of the place. The food was average and came during happy hour so some items were about 20% off. Service was pretty good but sometimes a little slow.

We had reservations and it got pretty crowded on Saturday evening. They have a happy hour from 5-6pm and then 8pm -closing. You get 20% off certain items. We ordered mixed tempura, yakitori, karaage chicken, nasu miso, and other dishes. It was tasty and food came out fast. They have a big menu with sushi, sashimi and combination dinners. The tempura, yakitori, karaage chicken was very good. The nasu miso was okay. I took the nasu miso home and it was better the next day as the flavors had time to meld. Will definitely go back. Reservations recommended.

Love the ambience here. I prefer the floor seating, it’s super cozy! All of their yakitori items are really good. Cut rolls are also great. Would recommend getting a variety of yakitori (skewers), some small apps (shisamo is my fave), and a cut roll or two. Perfect with ice cold draft Beer. Waits can get long so get on the wait-list via help in advance! To-go has been good as well but in-person is better to enjoy the vibes

Got back here after a year, and their service gets worse. They served me the sashimi without utensils. The second server put the second dishes on my table and left so quickly, I did not have a chance to ask them. Hard to find a server to ask for utensils; my food was getting cold. The skewers I ordered were’t good; I think they left them at the counter for a while until the server had a time to bring them to my table. Bill was $125 for 2 people, it’s not worth it. Disappointed!
