My first time to this little town, and I have met some of the coolest people! Starting with Carla over at the tax assessor’s office, that lady is amazing!
And then I found this little place, just wow! Everything here is homemade, it’s delicious! Everything was served warm and fresh and that young lady behind the counter, what a real sweet person.
Thank you so much for your hospitality. 🙂
If you guessed that I’ll be back, you’d be guessing correctly. Give it a try!

PERFECTION! YAAAAAAY! Slap your mamma! Authentic down home cooking! Buffet with real food you cant get many places accept your grandma’s! A real Hartz Chicken! The rolls are sooo yummy, awesome crispy chicken! And one of the only places to still serve okra. It is out of the way for me, but if I am close I will be sure to make a detour just to go there. The staff is courteous, the food has always been fresh when I have been there. The buffet is stacked with great stuff! Good prices too. The chicken is usually tender and juicy. Thank you for opening here! What a nice addition to the town!
Cooked cabbage, cranberries broccoli rice and cheese, brown AND cream gravy, beans, beets, bread pudding, peach cobbler, gizzards, collard greens, stewed okra, black eye peas, macaroni salad, chicken livers, oh yeah….. AMAZING FRIED CHICKEN AND CATFISH!!!!!!! All cooked to utter perfection!

I’ve eaten at another Hartz once before and was so unimpressed I never returned to one. But today I decided to stop by the one in Livingston. It was a great improvement over my first experience. Food was good, not great. It was all hot and fresh. I especially enjoyed the fried fish and mashed sweet potatoes. Rolls are very good. They were constantly cleaning. It’s good place to grab a quick inexpensive Southern comfort food meal.

First and last time to eat here, parking is hard to find, buffet is very expensive, simply not worth almost $16.00, there peach cobbler is mostly bread and too sweet, there sweet tea needs less sugar..fried fish is ok, fried chicken is nothing to brag about. Veggies are ok.

We always stop here when leaving the nearby casino. Everything is always so good. Not this time. All the food was old and probaly reheated too many times. Very disappointed. The fried fish was the only food that I thought was good.
I’ll return and give them another shot since they are usually good. But, if not, then that will be all for us. We don’t like paying for “old” food. We want fresh cooked food. Not “day old” everything!

There was mold on the tomatoes on the serving line chicken livers were half done and the second batch of chicken was still bloody. I spent $145.00 and I was embarrassed that I took my church there. The one in Cleveland Texas is lot better and that is where my church will go from now on

Chicken – all I could taste was fish, they must be using the deep fryer for both and cleaning the grease regularly, rest of the food well not much to say, hope this place improves

Decided to give them another try since under new management. Food was hot and fresh. Never seen dressing on a Hartz buffet, but it was decent.

Fish wasn’t cooked long enough and roaches are in the tea and soda/ice machine. Confronted the lady working and she was on her phone texting majority of the time I was there, and never once offered a resolution other than to change the tea container out. I had to request a refund myself but was never offered. I believe this establishment rushes things and that is compromising safey/health. They need to treat for roaches asap or hire more thorough employees. Location is an old building and the inside is very run down. They don’t even offer ice cream at this location as other locations do.
