We started with the Hot & Sour Soup, which was really good. Then we ordered the “Ribs”(the best part of the night—honestly the best of the best). I would 100% recommend getting those. We also tried the whole duck, which comes with buns. The duck was delicious and the presentation was gorgeous such a fun experience to try. One tip: enjoy it there while it’s fresh, because it doesn’t taste the same as takeout later.
For sushi, we ordered the Spider roll and it wasn’t my favorite. It felt like it could be improved, and I also wish they had more tempura sushi options on the menu (I’m a big tempura fan). That may come down to personal taste, but the sushi didn’t stand out to me as much.
The drinks, though, were amazing. I had the mezcal cocktail “East Meets West” and it was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend ordered the Kokuto Old Fashioned, and it was also spectacular.
Overall, we had a lovely evening. The restaurant is truly gorgeous, but I do think some aspects of the service could be improved. Still, I’d recommend Morimoto for the vibe, the duck, and especially the cocktails.
The quality was there but for the price point of over $200, it was lacking in our opinion. Everything else was great though including the cocktail list where we ordered a Mai Tai and the Sapporo beer.
We ordered their orange chicken and it was incredible, plus the portions were huge! They give you these big pieces of chicken tempura served with Chinese broccoli and rice. It was such a perfect pairing. We also ordered the spicy wontons, and seriously, they were so good I honestly wanted to order more, but I had to save room for all that orange chicken.
I tried the East Meets West cocktail, which is a mezcal drink, and it was so delicious that I ordered a second one immediately. I honestly could have kept drinking them all night if I wanted to.
I would definitely come back here again.
We had reservations for a party of 7 and our wait was only about 1-2 minutes. We were seated and our waiter, Andres was very welcoming and shared with us his recommendations.
The spare ribs were THE BEST I’VE EVER TRIED…. WOW!!!! The lettuce wraps, eel + avocado rolls, California rolls, the edamame and the yellowtail fish with the rice (Buri Bop) was cooked to order in front of us… DELICIOUS TOO!!!
Seriously can’t wait to go back.. our party of 7 shared all the plates together and we were so satisfied. We even got to take some left over home.
This restaurant is A MUST to try!!! You won’t be disappointed
We sat next to the open kitchen which was good – nice to see the preparation of the food. After some time deliberating we ordered our food and some cocktails. Our server was helpful explaining the menu and the ‘signature’ dishes.
To start I had the spare ribs and my wife the prawn tempura sushi roll. The ribs were excellent with soft and succulent meat coated in an Asian sauce (nice change from the more usual BBQ type sauce.
Our man in dish choice was the duck between us. It comes beautifully presented with either pancakes or bao buns and either rice or noodles. There is no doubt the meat is cooked perfectly and makes for a filling meal. The major disappointment for us was that the ‘crispy’ skin was not at all crispy and was unpleasant to eat. This is normally one of the most enjoyable parts. My wife isn’t a great fan of fat on meat and we both felt that there was a lot more fat on the duck than we were expecting.
We passed on dessert and paid the $180 bill with tip which we didn’t think was worth it. With so many good restaurants in Disney Springs I’m not sure we will come back.
Your front of the house sucks. We were standing in the corner of an area away from the doors the other night and were asked to wait outside in the mid 40s weather at night … because we were letting the cold in and that the staff at the desk was cold …. We were no where near the doors , and how does that even correlate the two events ? That would be like me telling the line cooks that I didn’t get my cocktail drink.
Talking about drinks. Some of us got our drinks in a normal amount of time while one of our guests didn’t receive his initial order drink until halfway thru his main course. At least 25 minutes into dining. Server’s BS excuse : oh the bar is very busy …. Ma’am he ordered a Diet Coke.
The food quality I will admit is very good. The Morimoto spare ribs (pork ) are very great and very tender , with a nice crust and a sauce that doesn’t overpower. Table ordered Edamame , your basic edamame finished with Maldon style flake salt. The assorted dumplings / gyoza style dumplings we had were good , not amazing , but quality ingredients.
One person at the table ordered the Buri-bop , which i assume is a play on stone pot bibimbap , they did a nice tableside presentation and explanation of the dish.
I personally came for the Peking duck dish , as i understand and appreciate the labor and process that goes into making Peking duck. We had to waive down the manager to ask where our dish was , and only after talking to the manager did a room temperature plate of duck show up. Yes , pretty much room temp. I even politely asked the manager what temp should the dish be and he said hot, just in case if it was ignorance on my part , and he apologized with another plate in about 2 minutes into, stating that he had taken someone else’s duck dish off the line to replace ours. So sorry for whoever had to wait for their duck dish.
Now I will admit. When the duck was brought out the second time , it was delicious, whoever cuts and plates the duck does and amazing job , it was flavorful, skin pieces were crispy and the leg sections were just the right amount of meat and fat. We chose the bao buns to keep it traditional and they were warm pillowy masterpieces that hugged the ingredients. Assembled together with the julienned cucumber and spring onion and sauces. It was excellent. Was it worth the $80 in conjunction with the service , that’s for you to decide.
Will we be back , honestly I don’t know. You would probably have to have chef Morimoto himself invite me back before I’d willfully come back. This restaurant is trying to coast on the name / brand itself and that it’s been here for 10+ years. But it probably relies on the one time dining tourists and doesn’t care about the locals that could dine there on a frequent basis.
Prices are definitely on the expensive side — depending on your budget, it can hit hard. We went as a group of four, ordered a lot, and the final bill was really high. But the service was exceptional, the food and drinks were top-tier, and the sake and beer were amazing. If it fits your budget, it’s absolutely worth it. I’d go back for sure the next time I’m at Disney.
