Shared a great dinner with the wife dinner at 1808 American Bistro in Downtown Delaware Ohio. I had the Scallops which were cooked to perfection. My wife had the Lamb special which she also thought was amazing. We shared the Roasted Brussel Sprouts which I would highly recommend. Lastly for dessert we shared the freshly made Beignets to top off a fantastic meal. Our service was friendly and efficient. Our food was served in a timely manner. If there is a downside to mention, the noise level exceeds easy conversation level, so plan accordingly.

1 Star – Looks Aren’t Everything: Style Over Substance

Let me just say—this place initially wooed us with its charming atmosphere and pretty presentation. That’s about where the magic ended.

We had a 7:00 PM reservation, but somehow didn’t see a single plate of food until 8:15 PM. Over an hour of twiddling our thumbs, sipping overpriced wine that may or may not have been a true 6 oz pour (funny how their glasses have no measurement lines—convenient, right?).

When the food finally decided to grace us with its presence, it was underwhelming in every possible sense:

My husband’s burger? Dry, sad, and quite literally naked—no sauce, no veggies, no effort. We could’ve had a far better burger experience at Five Guys for half the price, with twice the flavor.

My scallops? Mediocre at best. Absolutely nothing to write home about—certainly not worth the wait or the inflated price tag.

Speaking of prices: the wine list was a sticker shock moment for sure. And if you’re going to charge those rates, at least serve it in a glass that gives me confidence I’m actually getting what I paid for.

Bottom line: this was a textbook case of style over substance. Nice décor can’t save subpar food, slow service, and questionable value. Safe to say we’ll be taking our appetite (and money) elsewhere next time.

We really enjoyed our experience ! Overall the food was really good! We shared the Beef Carpaccio appetizer …. Fabulous! For dinner, my husband had Shrimp and Grits …. Outstanding! I had Beef Stroganoff …. It needed a little something . The noodles were more al dente than I prefer. The meat was extremely tender. For dessert, we shared Bread Pudding. OMG! Sooooo good ! For cocktails, my husband had a Rusty Nail and I had a Sidecar. Both cocktails were Excellent!! Brooke, our server, was really good too. Very sweet and very attentive. We will definitely return!

Food: 4.5/5 ✨ – (Brunch) Needed a little salt, but that’s a problem that’s easy to solve. The favors were balanced, but could have been brought out a bit more. We ordered the eggs Benedict and beef hash (+prosecco and Blood Mary).

Service: 5/5 ✨ – Attentive and friendly

Ambiance: 5/5 ✨ – Beautiful seasonal decor. Happy holidays!

1st visit. Wonderful experience.
Atmosphere pleasant and comfortable. Tony was excellent.
Wife had ribeye. Cooked to perfection. I had the pork chop. It was amazing. The place was crowded. Many people also at the bar. Not cheap but worth the cost.

Fun recommendation from a golf round nearby at the Delaware Golf Club. Food was phenomenal, service and atmosphere, as well. Got the mussel toast, burger, short rib, crème brûlée, and chocolate cheesecake. Just delicious all around. Good selection of drafts. Definitely a place to revisit!

We love 1808 and travel over an hour to enjoy the wonderful service, ambiance, and phenomenal menu. We dined on a week night this time and were delighted to find live music! 5 stars from our group for a great experience all around.

Couldn’t find a single reason to give less than 5 stars! The atmosphere was so quaint, our sever, Tony, is the guy you really need to bring home so he can describe everything that is happening around you at all times! His energy and passion for the food was incredible and he left us feeling like we should rush back! Our food (all courses) was absolutely delicious. You can tell that so much thought went into each dish. I had the salmon and will have that again for sure! If you don’t get dessert, you didn’t come to play! Will be back and will bring friends because everyone needs to try this place! (Pictures shown: Summer cheese spread, Salmon, Peach Cobbler, Beignets, Short Rib Asian Bowl)

My friends and I came here for the first time a few months ago. They had their greenhouses up outside and we were able to make a reservation to eat in one. I recommend not booking one on a really hot day because we were really hot, but otherwise, it was so cool!

Our server was fantastic and offered us 2 free desserts for our birthdays! There was not a lot of seating due to Covid, but we went on a non busy day and we had reservations. There’s parking available around the area as well!

We got a few different dishes and all of them were delicious! Every dish was flavorful and made very well. The beef carpaccio, 48 hour short rib, salmon filet, filet medallions, and risotto were fantastic and so delicious. The meats were tender and juicy, risotto was flavorful, and the salmon was cooked very well! I think the portions could have been a bit bigger for the price, we spent about $150 for 4 people minus desserts, but it was very good!
We got whiskey bread pudding and New Orleans beignets and they were absolutely delicious. The beignets were unexpected because they were light and flakey and drizzled with honey and powdered sugar. The latte that the beignets came with was a good bitter balance to the sweet pastries. The bread pudding was also very sweet, but delicious!

I recommend this place for dinner, a date, a small group, and delicious food!
