Absolutely AMAZING food! The smothered pork chops were so tender and flavorful — you could cut them with a fork. The mac and cheese was rich, cheesy, and perfectly creamy. The yams had just the right sweetness and were the perfect touch to the meal.
The portions were large, and we left super full and satisfied. You can really taste the love in the cooking. Definitely coming back! ️

I really enjoyed myself here. The atmosphere was okay. It reminded me being back home in New Orleans,Louisiana inside of grocery store. She cook your food as order fresh. Nothing setting under alight or hot plate line. Beautiful personality. This is gem spot. Thanks I found soulfood spot.

Do Not Miss This Place!!!! If you do, you will miss some of the best food I have eaten, served by one of the nicest persons. Don’t worry about where to sit….this food is so good, eating it while seated on the asphalt of the parking lot would still be a 5 Star eating experience. I had the Ox Tail on rice, Greens, Max and Cheese, with cornbread. The whole experience. Wife had the Brisket, which we are both picky about….may be the best I have ever had. I would alter travel plans to be able to eat at Arlene’s.

I just wanted to drop a quick note to say how impressed I was with the 2-meat plate I ordered — I got the ribs and brisket, and wow! Both were absolutely delicious — juicy, tender, and not the least bit dry. You really nailed it!
On top of that, the service was super friendly and made the whole experience even better. Great food and great people — can’t ask for more.

Love the friendliness when you walk up to the counter. Our fried chicken was breaded and fried up nicely. The Mac and cheese was nicely seasoned. Happy to find this place for lunch.

The food is hands down some of the best in Freeport. Mrs.Arlene, let my buddy and I sample some of the brisket and it was delicious. You can tell she has a lot of pride in her food and she is a very hard worker! Her place can easily be missed, but she has really awesome food. Everything was flavorful and tasty. I will definitely come back and try something different next time!

Looked up places to eat this was the number one search on Google man it did not disappoint. I got the pork chops yams and mac & cheese. One of the best pork chops ever ever had mac & cheese is. I don’t know what she put in there besides love man that was good. Some of the best soul food I had This is in Top three of my favorite soul food places she’s competing with restaurants in Houston and she’s Man”. It’s good.

Had the oxtails, rice and mcChesse. Oxtails one of the best I’ve ever had. Big meaty and flavorful. Mc n cheese hands down the best I’ve ever had. The rice was a little hard but that’s an easy fix just a little more water in the pot. Corn bread taste really good little dry but taste great. Blueberry pie is really good too im definitely returning trying the rest of the menu
