Anchor Brewing’s Public Taps is a gathering place for San Franciscans and for the many visitors seeking a one-of-a-kind San Francisco experience. Nothing makes a day in this magical city better than sharing San Francisco’s original beer with friends. Anchor Steam® Beer started as a quirky little innovation that utilized our foggy climate to cool the beer on rooftops. Today, our family of brewers embodies that original spirit as we invite you to take a peek behind the curtain and see innovation at work. It’s here that you’ll find our pilot brewery: limited, seasonal, trial run, one-offs, and collaborations brewed exclusively for our Public Taps guests.

Expansive tasting room with vintage accents serving signature & seasonal brews plus food-truck fare.

Very big taproom and patio with a nice chill ambiance, lots of tables, a photo booth, a couple of basketball mini games and a pool table. Also a big screen to watch sports if any. The beer selection was good, tried a Hazy IPA and an amber, both very tasty, nice prices and some merch available if you like. The neighborhood is very calm so its easy to get there and find parking recommended for craft beer lovers such as myself

Enjoyed our time spent here drinking beer in the sunshine in their outside seating area. You have to reserve a table before you visit , only allowed 90 minutes per reservation. Although we were lucky and got a table when we just turned up. But believe you can stay longer of you reserve beforehand for a longer time . Great choice of Anchor beers, my husband had the cold steam amber ale, he really enjoyed this. I had the Tropical hazy, both were nice beers, well kept. But preferred the amber ale tbh. You order beer and they bring it to your table as the inside area is currently off limits due to Covid restrictions.
Food available was Mexican fare, and was excellent, fresh and tasty. Again, you order via QR code. The staff were friendly and helpful, gave us a heads up when our 90 minutes was nearly up.

Old brewery with a bit of branding and identity crisis. They certainly have their all time favorite beer, and the nice outdoor beer garden, which were great. However, the taproom doesn’t really have their own kitchen. They partner with Frank Grizzly which provide excellent Cali-Mex food. But because there isn’t a kitchen, there are no dinnerware or metal utensils. Eating out of a paper container with plastic utensils just give you a completely different experience. If you want to make people feel good hanging out, then don’t just give them food in a box to take-away. It’s common sense. They still have a 4-star because of their long standing and time tested beer being one of the oldest brewery in SF. But they need to do a better job keeping their beer fan coming back in order to keep their place.

We had a great time here – well exceeded my expectations. The flights of beer come in 4 cups per flight – at $12 these are so reasonably priced and a great way to try everything. You can also buy a growler $10 and fill it with your favorite brew to take home – we got the blood orange blonde which was $7/pint – for the growler fill of 64oz it was very well-priced at $15. Food truck has some great stuff – we came on a day when Frank Grizzlys was cooking and their quesadillas and nachos are amazing! Also, dog friendly!

Couldn’t come to San Francisco and not visit for a Steam Beer! The Taproom is a large open space with a big screen showing American Rugby or football as they call it!
Large selection of beers on tap and the flight options were too good to miss! Great atmosphere inside and the staff friendly and helpful.

One not to miss!

This is beer heaven. Everything on tap either in the beer hall or outside in the garden. Dog friendly, kid and family friendly, everything friendly in this relaxing, open space. Food trucks offer great, inexpensive eats, and there’s a big screen to watch sports.

Solid beers. Pet (cat) friendly too. Large indoor space and an extensive outdoor patio area. Even had a pool table and other games. Good place to chill with some great brews.

All the classic brewery fanfare you’d expect: skeeball, basketball, Photo Booth, sour beers, screaming children running around unsupervised/ parents attempting to day drink in peace. Food is a bit lacking; not in terms of portions but just sustenance. Patio is spacious and with tons of shaded/ sunny options. All and all a great spot to chill even if it’s just now another SF historical institution bought by a foreign company (Sapporo).

Since we were not from this area, and we knew about this beer, (history) it was definitely on our to-do list in San Francisco! You can really tell that they are more into this not just for the money, but because they really care about their craft, from the tour guide to the people at the tap room, they just really love what they’re doing and really care about making you happy!!! One of the best ways to exit our great week here. Everything about this place is Legend!

Great public tap by anchor brewing.
Lots of tables to join friends and enjoy anchors many great beers.
The afternoon I was there was a fund raiser for the Camp Fire and I stuck with the Resilience IPA as all money went to the fund.
The Mexican food stand has awesome street tacos and other Mexican fare, definitely a plus with the beer.
Can’t wait to come back!
