We booked online and received a confirmation email, but when I called the next day to ask if it was ok to move the booking, there was no record of it. The person on the phone did however “rebook” us for 8pm thankfully.

The food and drink menus are extensive, so we were really spoilt for choice.
The starters were very tasty, and good value for money.
The mains were a mixed bag. I had a king prawn dish, but the prawns were very chewy and overcooked.

What spoilt my evening was not the overcooked prawns, but the obvious vaping of another customer in the corner of the restaurant. At one point, he vaped pretty much in clear view of one of the serving staff who later claimed not to have seen it.
I have a problem breathing in vape fumes in public, but inside a restaurant is not ok. You cannot always affect people’s behaviour, but the vaping was pretty blatant.

Sorry to say that this will be the last time I go to this restaurant, as nice as all of the staff were to us.

Had takeaway delivered, they use there own drivers which are great guys. Adrian was on time, friendly and polite.
The Pakoras, nans and Jalfrezi were made fresh with great quality ingredients very tasty.
Highly recommended! 5*****

My only tip, book in advance. Did wing it and got in on a Saturday night but I wouldn’t advice it. Shami & Sheek starters.Massla Special main, not sure if froozen, Chicken and Spinach. Not to sure if other main, Shimla Mirchi. Both were good. Fresh Garlic Naan.
Place is packed.
Not a coloured person in sight.

Probably would award 3.5 if possible, maybe over critical but aligned with recent reviews.

Good level of spice, I asked for medium instead of “slightly spicy”, just not enough to give you a kick. Spice was more spice than flavour.

Rice very tasty but naan was undercooked, bengal restaurant which is great to see an advertised speciality, however a shame to have “standard” beer.

All in all a good quality of curry, spice and flavour mix could be better refined. Positive to see a speciality in “Indian” food.

The food at Masala in Shrewsbury was genuinely excellent – full of flavour without being too spicy. The butter paneer was rich and comforting, the vegetable biryani was aromatic and well-balanced, and the saag aloo was especially tasty.

Unfortunately, the experience was let down a bit by the service. Our waiter mixed up the order and didn’t seem particularly attentive or apologetic. While the issue was eventually corrected, it took a bit more effort on our part than it should have.

That said, the quality of the food made up for the rocky start. We’d go back for the food alone – just hoping for a smoother service next time.

The Masala Indian Restaurant in Shrewsbury is absolutely fantastic. The food was full of authentic Indian flavours, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. Every dish tasted fresh and rich in spices without being overpowering.

Was a bit dubious having read a few negative reviews but I have to say the service was fantastic the portion sizes amazing and the taste was really good to. I had the prawn wrapped in spinach fried with onions and fresh ginger my partner had coriander chicken was all super tasty so would highly recommend. As for the portion sizes we both struggled to finish what we had.

Hands down the best curry house in Shrewsbury. Shaf, the owner, is a brilliant host, and recognised us all straight away as we used to be weekly visitors.

The curries themselves were delicious, especially the lamb bhuna, and the naans and rice were cooked brilliantly too. The cobra served here is ice cold and tastes delicious, and the brandy is great too. The atmosphere now it has been re-done is brilliant, and really provides a unique feel whilst sitting inside.

Overall, I cannot recommend this place enough. It has and will always be my go to place for an Indian in Shrewsbury – this review has been a long time coming! Thanks.

Rogon Josh, Bhuna and Biriyani bland and almost like tinned soup. Saagwala was the only decent curry we ordered.
‘Roti’ was literally a supermarket tortilla, I called them and asked for a refund.

Lovely curry, polite and efficient service and reasonable prices. The only thing we didn’t like was the garlic mushrooms which were tasteless (I think they forgot the garlic!). Would go again
