So I’m definitely a barbecue snob
And ribs are my favorite. The ribs were good. The brisket was really dried out and overcooked. We wanted wet brisket, it has no flavor and was gray and dried out. The burnt ends were tasty juicy meat, but they weren’t burnt crispy ends. The barbecue sauce was just OK. It was real kind of runny and watery cornbread was just OK. Potato salad and baked beans were good. The pork rinds were nothing special. I noticed as I was walking out. A lot of people were ordering the salmon and the chicken both look good however I don’t order salmon or chicken out at restaurants because I make better at home. Would I go back? Yeah possibly for the ribs I would compare this place to like Sonny’s barbecue in Florida except Sonny’s is a little better.
The potato salad is a sour cream and ranch base, the green beans are buttery and brothy, and the ribs, get them muddy. I’m also usually a chopped brisket kind of guy, but went sliced, loved it here.
Would highly recommend coming if you’re in town.
From the complimentary pork rinds, to the CHEESIEST mac, this place knows food. It was a lot of fun to see the pitmaster’s many world champion awards.
We were greeted right away and seated quickly. Our server, Shea, came right away for drink orders and strongly recommended the ribs combo. We were not super hungry so we just did the brisket plate and added 3 bones for $9. Shea was sweet and attentive.
Brisket is my go to so I dig in right away and then had to chew and chew and chew on the piece I cut off. I thought maybe it was a bad piece so I tried another slice and it was the same.
I switched to the ribs and they were amazing! We got them wet and they were sauced just right. Meat came off the bone with just a slight tug.
The sides are all good but the corn was exceptional.
When I told the server we were not happy with the brisket she asked if she could get the manager. I said that was fine. The manager didn’t say her name but she seemed to genuinely want to help and asked if she could get different slices because it’s not supposed to be tough. I said that was fine or she could just swap out some ribs.
She came back with more slices and it was more of the same. She never came back to see if they were better, and while the server asked about it noticing that it was entire uneaten, she then just brought our bill for a total of $42.
We paid and left.
The food was overall good.
The Mac n Q with brisket, Catfish, Bird n Bones, Salmon was a solid 7/10.
The dish that was lacking was the meatloaf. It was not good and this is coming from someone who would eat just about anything. 2/10
The peach cobbler was very sweet and syrupy so I wasn’t a fan.
Overall, good place to go with your family or Large group since they have the 2 large platters as well.
