Xi Xi fried skewers and hot pot is probably best place for quick, pick your own, hot pot in all of Irvine. What makes this small and quaint food stall in the Jamboree Prominade unique is their exclusive peanut and chile sauce that is addictive right from the start, and you can have it in four different spice levels (Level 1 – Original being more traditional and Level 4 being extremely spicy). Also if you just want a quick snack with friends you can get freshly cooked skewers including potato tornadoes, fried veggies, fried chicken, squid, and so much more on zesty skewers that are just fun to snack on with your friends. Not a full sized restaurant and sits between Momo’s and YGF Malatang, so perfect for a meal on your own, or with a date on the weekend. Parking directly near the food court often is packed so you always find a spot in the garage below. All in all, Irvine’s best little Asian food secret that you have to try! (^^)v

My wife and I recently visited XiXi Zha Huo Pu, next to YGF in Irvine. Both places offer Mala Tang, but we were eager to try the Northeast traditional sticky hot pot with sesame sauce at XiXi, not the fried skewer.
The ordering process was a breeze: we picked our ingredients, chose medium spice level, and soon enjoyed our sticky and gooey mala tang (黏黏糊糊的麻辣燙). This unique style is quite different from the traditional versions at YGF, Zhangliang, and YinTang. We all love it.

The food is good. The hot pot is the same price as their neighbor but they have fewer options. Also, the fried skewers are pretty expensive. I do wish they spoke English or labeled the ingredients in English. With just the Chinese labeling and nobody speaking English, it was very confusing. I saw several delivery drivers trying to communicate with the workers here and it was just a mess. I hope they can improve things.

I really miss the good fried skewers from China, that’s why I tried this when I found out a specialized skewer restaurant. But the overall experience is below my expectations. The skewers are really pricy actually, picking some random stuff will cost 40bucks, a little worried about the food cleanliness since some flys were just over there. The taste was pretty bland, even though u can add some sauce, but why do we need a chef? The staff was kinda distracted, almost equals to no service but tip is optional, so that’s fair. Would not come back for sure regarding the price and taste.

The place is very overpriced. A fried skewer is 4.99 or 3.99 and the meat is not even fresh and the taste is bland and not very hot. Far below my expectations especially considering the price. The Malatang is just mediocre and the selections is much less than their neighbor. Rather regret that I went to this place instead of YGF.

I can only describe this clay pot noodles as Amazing. The spiciness I want is medium spicy, paired with a unique sauce, which is very delicious. I think this is the best noodles I have ever tried, and I strongly recommend it. The noodles from this restaurant are unforgettable to me, and I love the taste. This is a fried skewer shop, and because I had noodles, I only ordered one chicken fillet for the skewers. It’s really great. The boss is very friendly and the service is great. I like it here
