I had a great dinner experience at this Legal Sea Food’s rooftop enclosed patio! It was hardly busy at all on a Monday night, so the place was quiet and very easy to talk. Our server was attentive and helpful.

We started with the fisherman’s platter, which consisted of a variety of fried seafood and veggies (onion, fries, coleslaw). The calamari was fishier than other ones I’ve had at restaurants, but everything else was tasty! We also ordered two soups: the clam chowder and the lobster bisque. The clam chowder was delicious, cheesy, and creamy. The lobster bisque, however, was weirdly caramel-y and off putting; we did not enjoy it.

Onto the mains, the prime rib cooked medium rare was delicious, and cooked just a bit more rare than expected but I actually prefer a rare/medium rare so it was great. The szechuan beans and mashed potatoes were also decent, they paired well with the steak. The other two mains (white fish and lobster tails) met our expectations as well, as they were tasty and well-portioned. The one main that we were let down by was the clam pasta (I forgot the specific name), but everyone thought it was overly sour, perhaps due to lemon?

Overall, we enjoyed a great meal at Legal Sea Foods; the atmosphere and service were both great and I would recommend this chain to anyone visiting Boston.

This restaurant is a decent size with good service. I went for lunch around 2pm and it was slow we walked right in no reservation for a party of 7. Everything that was ordered was outstanding! Lobster mac and cheese appetizer down to the seafood platter, calamari, drinks were strong as well. The dessert cheesecake was also very delicious and authentic. You can tell everything here is super fresh it is a pricey restaurant but good and plenty of seating and a bar.

Came here two days in a row because the Lobster roll was so good. Also sampled the clam chowder, lobster bisque, fried calamari, and a 1.5lb lobster boil, and a grilled trout. Everything here is amazing. The fish is so fresh and delicious, Sam Adams on tap goes with it all perfectly. The view of the harbour at sunset is an added bonus. The hosts and servers are all very friendly and attentive. Will definitely return in the future.

Wow!!! The blizzard of ’26 came in and we almost missed this incredible dinner. Fortunately we were able to change our reservation a night early. We were so lucky because this was absolutely delicious. We were so happy. It was for sure memorable and we’ll come back the next time we are in Boston!

Went Back For An Encore!
With all of the seafood choices in Boston, to opt for this restaurant twice in a 4-day vacation….says alot. The seafood is obviously excellant. But the ambiance is every bit as enjoyable.

We dined outside, among a cozy set of tables on the harbor. It was a pleasant combination of relative seaside serinity and circus just inside.

I had and truly recommend the basic Fish and Chips. Wifey selected the Crabcake& Shrimp, a signature dish for the restaurant. Both were truly delicious. We will definitely return!

We were in Boston for a couple of days and looking for seafood. We made reservations through open table and we were immediately seated near the back windows. The view of the harbor is amazing.
Our server was young and a little nervous, but super friendly and after a little conversation she relaxed and was really friendly and helpful.
We ordered the seafood tower for two and it was outstanding … 4 oysters, 4 clams, 1/2 lobster, 4 shrimp, and tuna tartar. All were outstanding quality.
For the main course I selected the clams and my partner ordered the fettuccine with clams. My clams were good and cooked well, but i would probably order something else the next time. My partners dish was tasty, but a little heavy on the pancetta.
Overall, we had a great experience at Legal Seafood

Came in for lunch because we saw they had gluten-free fish and chips and were excited! We had an extremely uncomfortable experience here and will likely never return when visiting Boston. Overall, the food was ok for the price, but the service was not good at all.

We were sat instantly, however, it seemed to take about 10 minutes for us to even be acknowledged by our waitress. The restaurant was not very busy for a Sunday afternoon and they seemed to be perfectly staffed.

Initally, she just handed us waters with no introduction. She then came back around 10 minutes later and asked if we were ready to order to which we ordered the fish and chips. We then proceeded to be given gluten-free rolls which was awesome. The Guy who ran our food out, gave us more conversation than our waitress did the entire time.

I started to put my coat back on to show we were ready to leave. The waitress came over and asked if we wanted dessert, we declined and said we were ready for the check. To which she pulled out the machine for us to pay. We were planning on leaving a cash tip, however when my sister selected no tip the waitress immediately asked is there a reason why you selected no tip? It threw us off. I looked at her and said we were planning on leaving a cash tip to which her demeanor changed and her response was I take cash as well. I was extremely thrown off and just grabbed the loose dollars that I had in my purse which I gave to her. She counted in front of me and scoffed. She did not give us a receipt so I am unable to leave a name that explains how much service she even gave to us in the first place.

In my opinion, this is extremely inappropriate behavior from a waitress. We were hardly attended to in the first place yet to be asked this kind of question? I have never been asked why I wasn’t leaving a tip or watched while selecting the tip option. It was extremely uncomfortable. For the price of the food, the service should match and this restaurant did not meet those expectations.

We visited this place because it was recommended by multiple people. We did not have to wait much to get a table and our server was the savior of the review ?and the bread). He was amazing!!!!
We ordered fried calamari, it was good. We also had the clam chowder and it was very good too but I was honestly expecting something with more punch.
Reasons why the low rating:
– The sodas we ordered were flat
– Restrooms were not clean at all and very unorganized. There was no soap; all there was, was an empty liquid soap bottle with the top out. No drying towels.

This is hands down Boston’s best seafood spot. The lobster sandwich I had here? Best I’ve ever tasted! Loved it so much we came twice-if we’d stayed any longer, honestly, I’d have dragged you back every single day. Staff were proper friendly, kitchen smashed it, every dish was spot-on. Big thanks to the whole team-see you next time we’re in town!

The yellowtail and the sole fish were wonderful. The oyster delicious- the freshness was just perfection. The clam chowder is not bad, but not the best there is. Definitely worth a visit for sure. Staff was helpful and gave good suggestions. Atmosphere was nice, not so loud you can’t hear the party you’re with, but not super quiet. I love how is within walking distance to a variety of places.
